Thank you for the updates everyone. I apologize that I haven't been able to respond, we aren't able to provide support over the weekend so we are catching up as of right now.

I want to explain that the suggestions given in my previous post have been successful in resolving this (or similar) issue. So I'm not just suggesting those for the sake of suggesting them. I don't want to skip over something that seems too simple that may actually be the solution. We can't replicate the error here, so we will have to rely on your feedback and results.

As there are many of you with slightly different error messages and circumstances, I'll try to get to you individually (but feel free to try any troubleshooting suggestions). I apologize if I can't get to you directly.


Can you elaborate on what you added into the command prompt? Additionally, can you provide a system report? I'd like to see if there are any similarities in graphics cards.

That command prompt effectively forces every single dll file back to their 'default' settings, effectively removing any corrupted/broken files there. I should however state that after this I reinstalled Windows to see if that would work and it didn't.

As a test, can you try lowering the graphics settings and entering one of the bad areas? Additionally, try running the game in borderless fullscreen or windowed if you normally use Fullscreen. If it's area dependent, it might be tied to a graphical setting that is prominent in that area. However, I'm not entirely sure.

I did try some testing, and even more specifically the areas that others had issues, mainly the gold saucer.
Things I did try:
- gold saucer area + the GATEs and NPC's spawning
- FATEs in normal areas
- Talking to NPCs
- Talking to MSQ NPCs and triggering various dialogue
- Taking the boat to the Doman Enclave ( this originally had a 100% crash rate for me)
- Borderless, Fullscreen, and windowed, various graphics settings.

I even used my old \my games\ffxiv settings so I wouldnt lose my old HUD and bindings, and was unable to replicate any issue.

I apologize (only partially :P ) that I am unable to recreate any crashing currently. I do agree that the constant reinstalling was technically not the solution, but all I can think of was that something was getting corrupted or broken due to myself losing connection is some fashion while patching. If I do have any other crashes in the same fashion, I'll reply ASAP.

On further occurrence, when the DirectX 9/DirectX 11 error pops up, more often than not it's letting me still load in and move around, although the music stops and certain NPCs stop loading in. Sometimes it allows the UI for Return to load in, but other times it doesn't. In areas where you can walk through area boundaries to load into another area, I've been able to walk to the area transition (assuming the game doesn't throw an error again on the way over and stop responding) and trigger the load, though the loading screen stalls out with the loading wheel spinning continuously. On clicking "okay" on the error messages, FFXIV closes out and shows three more of the same DirectX errors, but once I log back in and try loading into the new area, it seems to load up without the error happening immediately, which is what seems to happen for a long while if I try to load back in to the same area where it first crashed.

It seems an awful lot like something somewhere in the area isn't loading properly in places like Ul'Dah, the Doman Enclave, Rhalgr's Reach and Kugane, although that could also mean that, since those are areas that have a lot of current population for quests and unlocks and such, it might also be an issue with player models.

UPDATE: It's happening in Frontlines: Shatter now, too, but only when nearby where specific Storm players are gathering for tomeliths, which is really making me think this is being caused by something player-related when models load in.

It's suddenly happening to me in Limsa as well out of nowhere, and I've tested this on a low level alt I have, and the issue persists there too, so I don't believe it's isolated to just one character like some people are saying. I've reinstalled the game, I've reinstalled my drivers, I have done literally everything suggested just short of reformatting my entire PC. I've even tried deleting my player folders.

But I will reiterate that with plenty of testing, these are the things causing me to crash without fail:

- Spawning of certain NPCs, notoriously the ones in the Gold Saucer. Doesn't matter if they spawn while there or are already spawned when I load in, I will crash.
- Certain FATEs and/or Hunts. I've crashed going to a couple of hunts as well as to Odin, in various different locations including the Shroud, Thanalan, and La Noscea.
- Syrcus Tower, something to do with when the purple gates go up? Unsure if there's an NPC spawning/despawning, but I can log back into Syrcus just fine, but as soon as the "Immediately move to sealed area?" box pops up, I crash.
- Limsa Lower Decks while doing the level 68 quest for Machinist. (I seem to spawn in just fine now that I finished the quest on my husband's computer, so this NPC might help narrow things down?)

EDIT: Even more places I find will go here.
- Upper La Noscea at 7:05pm EST. Will update if I'm able to go later, as perhaps it will help narrow down what FATEs/NPCs/etc. (7:28pm EST, still happening, so it I'm doubting it's a FATE? Perhaps it's a hunt or something.)
- Suzaku EX. Suzaku Hard is fine, it's just EX that crashes.
- All of La Noscea seems to be crashing me now, which especially sucks because I'm currently leveling Ninja and can't go to my job instructor now. This needs addressed ASAP.

Add Rabanastre to the latest crash spots; crashed on loading in at the start, but on reloading the game, it didn't crash again until after I teleported into the first boss arena with the rest of the other players loaded on screen.

I can't remember whether this error in the middle's popped up before; it's usually been a succession of 3 or 4 error windows that pop over the top of each other.
