I believe it to be an issue with certain processors, as I ended up with the problem as well. If you guys can type cmd in your search bar, run Command Prompt as administator and exactly copy this: for %d in (*.dll) do regsvr32 -s %d

It should force your PCs to at least be able to run FFXIV on Dx9. I still crash when going into certain areas using Dx11, but after using that command it has helped with being able to play on Dx9 at least it won't break your PC in other ways.

It may be a boon until SquareEnix might be able to clarify themselves what the issue may be. I have reinstalled four times, soft reset Windows too forcing a DirectX reinstall. There's a big issue somewhere which I'm not able to personally find.

So, after a complete uninstall+re-install including the documents folder (I was able to move my macros, HUDs, and the like back), the issue may have been resolved. I was able to run around Rhalgr's Reach which is where all of my issues occurred for a full 24 hour cycle (Eorzea Time) and teleport back and forth from it without issue at various different times of day (Eorzea Time).

Still afraid I'm not entirely out of the water so I'll update if the issue arises again.

Good afternoon and thank you eveyone for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

I apologize for the delay in this response. As many of you have a variation of this error (and is likely caused by different things) I'll start with a list of potential solutions. I apologize if some of you have tried these, but this is just so we can be on the same page.

    1) Switch to DirectX 9 mode (select ‘Config’ from the launcher to turn off DirectX 11)
    2) Update/reinstall your graphics card drivers if you have not already
    3) Disable any overlays you may have open (Geforce Experience, Discord Overlay, etc.)
    4) Set compatibility mode to Windows 7 (right click on the ffxivboot.exe file and select ‘Properties.’ Then select the ‘Compatibility’ tab and choose Windows 7)
    5) Perform a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.
    6) Reinstall the game (also make sure to delete the locally saved files in My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV).

Please let me know if you are still experiencing the error after trying the above. Please include where the crash happens, the error message, how often it happens and when it started happening.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

I have done everything you have suggested, some multiple times over in the sense of reinstalling my graphics card drivers and FFXIV four times yesterday, as well as the compatibility mode. For me, it only ever happens when I try to enter Alphascape. And running the game on Dx9 works for everything, but for my machine running it in Dx11 makes it run smoother if that makes sense. It is only on Dx11, it makes me crash in Alphascape stilll. <-- this is the error I got.

It was only using the: for %d in (*.dll) do regsvr32 -s %d : in the command prompt that enabled me to run the rest of the game on Dx11 without crashing, but the raids continously cause it. It should be stated however that now I don't even get an error message, I just get a black screen and FFXIV entirely closes itself and all of its processes.

    hi,
i just sent my friend the mod's response to see if there's something she hasn't tried yet in the steps, but i wanted to say she's also having a crash issue. but her crashes don't say anything about dx9 or dx11 and she actually just did a full reinstall a few days ago. she is only crashing on one specific character apparently, but was afraid to teleport to mor dhona to see if it would happen again.

she was able to play normally until she tried to teleport to mor dhona and suddenly crashed, and kept crashing a few more times after trying, and now she's unable to log into the character at all. i don't know if this issue is related to what's going on here but it might be??

i saw on reddit someone mentioned a lot of ppl in EU are having the issues. my friend would be one of those ppl. we were planning on xferring for a while to EU data centers so it'd be better to play for her, but hadn't done it yet. she did tonight to see if it would let her log in and she said it still is not working.

where are y'all playing from i wonder??
just posting here to say +1 person affected by random constant crashing

update: friend said she has done everything suggested already except uninstall because it takes her 5ever so she's waiting until friday to do that cause requires leaving compooter on etc, and ofc nothing has solved the issue yet

I'm also having the exact same issue as well. Consistently happens about 50% of the time when loading into the Gold Saucer. If it doesn't happen upon loading it, it will happen when a GATE NPC attempts to spawn. The NPC will not be where the map says they are and within moments the dreaded error message will pop up and cause me to crash. Attempting to login on the same system will result in crashing upon loading in, meaning I have to use my husband's computer (which has yet to have this issue) just to leave the effected area so I can once more log in on my computer. It's also happened a couple of times in the overworld, but the Gold Saucer is the only one that seems to be a major culprit. https://i.imgur.com/stP0O1b.png

I have tried everything suggested with the exception of a clean install (my internet is awful, so I'm hoping to do that as a last resort) and nothing has seemed to fix it.

I'm unsure how to post the logs everyone else is posting, but here's my specs for now? If instructed, I'll gladly post the other information.

    Intel - Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
    Corsair - Vengeance Pro 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (Game and OS both installed here)
Western Digital - BLACK SERIES 750GB 2.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
EVGA - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB SSC GAMING Video Card
Corsair - 750W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

    Having the same issue here.
Interestingly enough, it does seem to be area dependent, though I'm not sure what specifically.

    Clean areas:
    - Fc house in Shirogane ( Raiding FC with recent clears and gear if that helps
    - Rhalgars Reach
    - The Shroud ( and newbie town) [ Tried to log into alt, and had no issues. Only happens with main]

Bad areas: Yanxia, Mor Dhona, MSQ related stuff?

    Errors:
    DX11 -> https://puu.sh/ByrDf/6690ab7ea4.png

    DX9 -> https://puu.sh/ByrFi/d257f384b2.png

This is the second clean installation,
    all overlays disabled,
    my documents folder completely clean,
video drivers have been reinstalled and made sure they are updated to the most recent.

EDIT: The game no longer gives the error message; only an instant crash

Same issue here too. I thought it was just happening in the Lochs, but it keeps happening in other zones too. Takes anywhere between 5 seconds and an hour for it to crash. Except in my case it shuts off my display saying "out of range" so I don't see any error messages and have to restart the computer. I've stress tested the GPU and am having no issues with any other games. None of the fixes here have done anything.

I finally reinstalled last night (both the game and my drivers) and the exact issue is persisting. I've noticed that mine almost exclusively happens in the Gold Saucer if a GATE is currently up, which makes me wonder if somehow certain NPCs are causing the issue? If I wait for the GATE to despawn I can load the GS just fine. Another notable time I crashed was on my way to Odin, loading into the Shroud to fight him. By the time I managed to relaunch the game he was already killed and I loaded in just fine. Unsure if NPCs could cause an issue like this, but it's just my experiences and I figured I would add this information.
