Here's a story of pre-pull regens on tanks.
Was doing the double pull in compass that leads up to the last one (you know, the one with the monkeys that aggro almost immediately after you jump off your cloud, followed by the bi fang and two "dragon weasels" after a bridge).

Grab the first group, run up the bridge, bi fang and co. see me and get angry. Regen ticks before I get in range, all 3 set their sights on the WHM. I Overpower all 3, so the WHM had main enmity for less than a second.
Doesn't matter, the mobs beeline it to the WHM who was a bit of a distance behind. I try to solidify my enmity on the things that are on me, waiting for the runaways to come back. By the time they get back to me, the SAM who was running together with the WHM has almost grabbed one of them for himself (think I heard a Setsugekka go off).
Thankfully the party was made of intelligent people, and the SAM stopped attacking the thing and instead followed us to the top. But there were a few ways that could have gone wrong, which would have made the pull kind of a hassle.

(On another note, both EX roulettes I did today were amazing. This one with the WHM/MCH/SAM was already nice, but the other one with a SCH/BLM/SMN was probably the fastest I've tanked thus far. Daidara didn't even get to widen his lake all the way before he died. Good day to come back after being sick. [I still kinda am, but now I'm at least good enough to remember what enmity is.])

It's gotten bad enough that I'm back to doing my expert roulettes on WHM because I'm sick and tired of random tanks assuming I have an enmity cooldown for every set of mobs on RDM. I feel like I'm stuck between inconveniencing the healer by yanking off the tank or purposely gimping my own damage to not pull. It's so much worse with single pull tanks too.

In an effort to all play RDM outside of raiding I did normal raid roulette on it since it gives crap exp anyways. Got Guardian. Proceeded to tank every add that I didn't have diversion up for for at least most of its life. The Biblio one hits less hard than Savage but still almost pancaked me.

Does anyone else feel like their tanks have just gotten lazy with the enmity generation? I'm not saying they should be standing their spamming their enmity combos but at a certain point if I've exhausted everything available on my end all that's left is for them to get more threat.
People in general gotten lazy. Tanks who don't keep hate properly, dps players who don't even bother using AOE and/or diversion or healers who just stand around and throw a heal every now and then or blast regen/medica II on the tank pre pulls.

So roll your eyes if you want, but I just did my first expert roulette and it went smooth with two comms.

    That is all.

Thanks for helping make the FFXIV community a fun and welcoming place. If you're not sure you have (and you very likely have), make it a point to be patient or helpful the next time you log in so that you can know you've made a difference.

If you're on the Aether data center, congratulations! I might be your next exciting adventure healer in the Duty Finder. Please look forward to it.

Gods, the pre-pull Regens... I've been seeing more of those lately while I was tanking roulettes. Every so often it would lead to the enemies I'm pulling making a mad dash for the healers faster than Flash can go off to catch them. THEN I have to run back to grab those enemies, and run back forward, by which point someone has put down an aoe on the ground as though the pull is anywhere near done (it's not). Like, knock it off, healers. If a tank dies to pulling more than they can handle, or a lack of cooldowns, before a pull is finished, then let it fall on them. It's safe to heal once the tank has aggro, because good gods do the trash mobs like to run faster than our Sprint sometimes when they have to cross a whole room to get to the healer! lol

    I feel slandered
After a run of Rabanastre, about a party's worth of people stayed to wait for the loot rolls to resolve, but it wasn't progressing. When it finally did resolve, my rolls came up last and so I was blamed for trolling everyone even though it wasn't my fault, but i couldn't correct that since the others left asap.

On another note, but also re: Rabanastre, even after several goes at it (it's been around a while now), I still can't quite get the hang of the spinning hand thing on the last boss.

As for tanks losing enmity, I've had that happen a few times in expert roulette. I've come across RDM/BLM/SAM that reach all but the tiniest of slivers of the enmity bar (I assume they are better geared than my all-360-with-no-materia self, based on their HP values), and which occasionally steal aggro. I accept responsibility for that in terms of having been taught to spend as much time on dps stances (on bosses) and/or dps combos, but I also would never assume a dps player has access to an enmity-reducing skill, because when I'm on dragoon I often forget about diversion until I see a not-green icon in the enemy list.

Can someone please explain to me what exactly I am doing wrong, because right now, I have honestly exclusively stayed in Eureka Anemos for about a week because I am frustrated about what I am doing to be called a ‘stupid shitty ninja’ in my last party. I had queued up into the normal raid roulette again, and this time, we got V5N. I shadewalker’ed the main tank to start off, even announced it to him, and the first phase went through just fine.

After the ghost phase and we all return to the fight, the problems immediately start. I shadewalker’ed the main tank, waited for him to start attacking the train, and then proceeded to fight. I find myself suddenly at the top of the aggro list before the boss starts casting Doom Spike. I immediately threw on shade shift, the SCH in the party threw up their AOE shields, and somehow I survived that. I hit diversion – and nope, I don’t go down on enmity, and a few seconds later, I am dead.

Obviously, I got shirked. The WHM rezzes me, and I see one of the healers (I don’t remember which one said it) telling me to stop. I asked for clarification and they said nothing. I apply my huton again, start running towards the train, and I get told to stop doing that. The WHM rescues me into one of the ghost floating across the platform, and I get sucked into the train.
I kill my ghost, but before I leave, I ask what they were talking about. Again, nothing.

Get back out, go towards the train, we get it down to around 10%, and being the only melee in the group, I start the cast for the LB3. The main tank waits until the cast is about to go off before telling me not to use it. But it’s already too late. I decide to ignore it and continue DPS’ing the boss (he was at 3% at this point). Once again, I suddenly find myself at the top of the aggro list. I got shirked again, and died yet again.

The rest of the party cleared, and the main tank starts telling me about what a shitty stupid ninja that I am. I ask them what was it that I was doing wrong, and they told me that I was supposed to use trick attack before the train started using head-on.

For clarification, specifically for Phantom Train, I delay my opener (5th GCD TCJ is my go-to) due to the train pulling away. I start my normal opener after Head-On. It might be incorrect, but I was still in a catch-up phase. I asked the group if that’s why they shirked me, and they said yes, it was a learning lesson because I sucked. So I just ended up leaving – didn’t even roll on any loot.

Probably was rude of me, but damn, it made me feel bad. Was delaying my opener due to Head-On that bad? I don’t even know why the WHM was telling me to stop mid-fight and then rescued me into that damn ghost – unless it was because I applied Huton, which I always do before the start of a fight, or in the unfortunate event that I need to be rezzed. I don’t get it.

Nah fam, that was harassment, fair and simple. Report the lot of them. Shirk and Rescue can be hella useful but they're also two of the most abuse-prone skills in the game and this was that. They intentionally interfered with your gameplay and got you killed, and trash talked you besides. You can educate someone without being a horrible person. No amount of bad play (which I'm not saying you did!) justifies that.

Leveling SAM, finally got in range of Doma Castle. I like this dungeon, the music is excellent, always happy to run it. Had several runs, all went smooth.

Then the tank dies in the first pull on a new run. First pull as in, the three (3) mobs that run down the ramp. No pulling further to pick up more, just those three guys. Tank uses CDs and does all they can to survive.
Even Holmgangs. While healer spams healing spells on them.

The healing using an ilevel 110 weapon. One or two pieces at i265 and the rest at i200 and below.
We all asked the healer if they had better gear. They didn't. Just visit a fricking vendor damnit.

    Why is this possible?

I really wish the timer on vote kicking someone was shorter. Or that this community was more cut throat like in other mmos.

Was running Doma, doing normal pulls at the tank. The healer started griping saying I was pulling too much cause he's running out of mana and then another dps jumped in. I told them I was doing normal pulls and using every cool down+ healing myself, I have no clue how the healer is running out of mana. Turns out the genius was only using cure 2 & 3, I then explained to him how healing works in this game, the guy had nothing to say after that but continued using cure 2&3 and going oom.

Our rdm also wouldn't rez the healer when he died which was like...70% of the dungeon.

Why are people so awful at this game? Why do these awful people refuse to take advice? If I'm fucking up and someone offers help, I'm going to take their help so I won't be an embarrassment.

They had an ego complex. They decided because you did something you weren't used to, you were going to be their target for bullying and abuse. They even admitted it saying it was a "learning lesson" (aka we don't want to make ourselves look like bullies but this will end up ousting us anyways). Don't be harsh on yourself. If you feel you need advice and support, there's always the Balance Discord. Don't let some steroid-fuelled egotististical maniacs get you down.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.
