I know this post is dated but I feel I have to put my two-cents in as well considering that I didn't even know the White Ravens were original 1.0 items until this post because I NEVER GOT TO PLAY 1.0 (and they don't really say they are in the event either).
I assumed, as I'm sure most did when the beta/1.0 was released that the content would be fully integrated into the game and not lost forever. All of you who played then have an exclusive experience that most of us can only watch on YouTube and read about in posts like this. (You also have your Legacy Mark, which I envy.) You have backstory and broken story paths. You know just how sad Dusk Vigil really is. You know what Coerthas looked like without snow. (And Cid without a beard).
I understand that it is feels like an affront but is giving out these items as a token of remembrance (and memorial for those of us who will never get to experience it) any worse than leaving the content out to be farmed unsynced? At least this way, they retain some value, instead of just being old forgotten content that no one touches anymore because who cares about earrings that none of you have probably worn or looked at in 4+ years. The fact that they come from 1.0 makes them priceless to me. Sorry if that makes everything you did in 1.0 worthless. :/
According to you and a couple others, sure. But until y'all want to sit down and explain why you think that, the default responses and the fact that Yoshida himself responded would seemingly indicate otherwise.
They don't say much in the event, to be fair. They acknowledge the Lightning Returns event in the dialogue, but there isn't actually anything unique said to/about Legacy players. In an event supposedly dedicated to them. Everybody gets the exact same lines, the exact same way, unless you did/didn't do the aforementioned event. That has nothing to do with 1.0/2.0.
Which tells you everything you need to know about this game.
There are multiple posts in this thread showing this isn't the case and that they warned people as such. There are even more where people try to twist the words plainly stated by the development and community teams, but that's beside the point. Case in point:I assumed, as I'm sure most did when the beta/1.0 was released that the content would be fully integrated into the game and not lost forever.
Q: Do you have any plans to give a special item to players who continue to pay the subscription from now until 2.0?
A: First, you'll be able to enjoy and participate in the Seventh Umbral Era event. There'll be achievements related to that which won't be available later. There'll be achievement rewards, battles with the Garlean Empire, and other items that will be exclusive to that period.
Undersized party toggle is one of the worst things that's ever happened to this game. We discussed it about 15 pages back if you're curious.I understand that it is feels like an affront but is giving out these items as a token of remembrance (and memorial for those of us who will never get to experience it) any worse than leaving the content out to be farmed unsynced?
And yes, it is somehow worse than even that. Instead of undersizing content, they just threw the item at any lv30+ player that managed the truly spectacular feat of making it through 3 whole FATEs. And, as you yourself noted, it's not a remembrance of or memorial to anything because the game doesn't even bother to tell you of the item's significance or truly even who or what it's related to. It's about as noteworthy as the Cactuar or Bomb Earrings you could pick up for a couple Gil from a vendor to most people.

It's an observation mate. People will respond to things on public forums.
BTW, if it's bait in your opinion, why did you respond to it?
Just because it's low effort doesn't mean it can't sustain me.
You took 5 seconds to respond, so it's the neighborly thing to do to return the favor.
If you have something to actually contribute, I'm more than willing to respond. Suits my cause just fine to have this thread stay alive.
It's not as if the development team didn't know how small their audience was when they came up with the concept for Ultimate. That Yoshida didn't see how few people were clearing Ultimate when he decided to say they may not remove the level sync from that brand of duties. And whether you can unsync content or not, the stuff has a very finite shelf life and appeals to a very specific audience.
Undersized party affects more than Ultimate, though. Affects more than Savage. Affects the entire game. It is one part "we, the developers, no longer have to consider this content when messing up job balance" and one part "this is free content for the casual audience." There are positive and negative aspects to both.
There's a net negative on player retention and reward value, however. On player retention, on one end there's the knowledge that what you're doing now will be easier later and on the other, that no matter how long you're away the total amount of "stored up" content will not increase because the time involved in each individual task significantly decreases. On reward value, the entire concept of it is shot so long as undersized parties continue to offer all of the rewards.
Not sure it's a healthy way to live responding to what you think is trolling, could just put me on your ignore list if it's that much of a problem, but you do you I guess.Just because it's low effort doesn't mean it can't sustain me.

And no, I don't have anything further to contribute to the discussion beyond what I've already posted in this thread, in fact I don't think there's much room for discussion on this topic than what's been said already. That said, I'll still make observations if I feel like it on comments I find silly.
Perhaps, but conversely I don't think it's a healthy way to live to assume everyone is a troll and should be ignored. There can at least be enjoyment found in engaging with trolls... which is about the only reason I post here for. Entertainment/enjoyment, that is, not so much the trolling.
I can't remember the last time I've blacklisted someone in game or otherwise.
I don't know that I would necessarily qualify "very subjective" as an actual observation of the argument. It's sort of like pointing to the sky and saying "blue" (da ba dee da ba daa). And no, I don't have anything further to contribute to the discussion beyond what I've already posted in this thread, in fact I don't think there's much room for discussion on this topic than what's been said already. I'm not even remotely sorry if that's stuck in your head now.
