4.4 Trailer!

Frankly, I'm very concerned for Alphinaud after that trailer... But at least it seems my wish for a proper Midgardsormr fight in his prime is almost certainly going to come true! Suzaku looks really cool in her final form as well, and the tiny bit of music for her fight that played sounds gorgeous. Also, it'll be nice to revisit the characters back at Azim, presumably before we get into the Burn. That was a pretty cool section of the 4.0 story when we first came that way, so I'm excited to see more of Sadu, Magnai, and the rest of the gang.

I doubt thats midgarsomr in his prime ... he was one of the most powerful beings in lore. Midgarsomr itself could be counted as a calamity if he went berserk. (citation needed by lore masters)

It can't be midgardsormr, midgard in this game is big enough to where his original trial has us face only his head. He was larger than shinryu, large enough to completely wrap around a garlean battleship to bring it down. I'm surprised everyone has forgotten this.

Bahamut Prime? Alexander Prime? What are those?

I would say its very likely Midgard, although he kind of just went back to sleep after using all his strength to help us out of a jam, I am curious as to how he would be used in the story, a fight would be most interesting. I also can't see a random dragon popping up this far into the tier, at least Chaos has final boss cred to back his appearance up.

Yeah, I'm worried about Alphinaud too... I really hope nothing serious happens to him, or I swear to the Twelve there will be a reckoning when we go to Garlemald. A fight against Middy in his prime in Alphascape sounds really interesting and fun, so I hope that it's true! And I agree about Suzaku, she looks amazing in her humanoid form, and her trial music sounds beautiful! The snippet with Sadu and Magnai really intrigued me; I wonder what we'll be going to the Steppe for? Possibly to get our Yol to fly to the Burn, like someone else said? Do we get pulled into some sort of small conflict there? I'm eager to find out!

I feel like he and Y'shtola were red herrings. But I do think somebody on the good guys side will die. Happened so far in ARR and HW where we lose somebody associated with the Scions. The other thing is Zenos. We saw his body, but not the man himself - can't help but feel that there's another surprise coming up with that.

Given how she's the poster girl for FF14 in Dissidia and that she just came back, I highly doubt she's going anywhere for a bit. If they make up some reason to offscreen Y'shtola again then I'll question their reasonings for having her recover so fast after SB's story ended lol.

Hm, when Alphi and the Shadowhunter stumble upon what appears to be the Populares camp, I noticed something. Maxima appears to be absent from the trailer entirely. Hm.

I'll throw my hat in to the ring on the Dragon, I don't think it'll be Midgarsormr I thinks it's Kaiser Dragon.

After seeing what others posted, I've changed my mind... I now think Alphinaud is the strongest contender for the chopping block.

If they are gonna kill someone off, it would be the most unexpected... and considering how he is the strongest sidekick character to the WoL (the Robin to our Batman), I think his death would actually have the most emotional impact on players.

I think this is also why we had the odd moment at the end of 4.3 MSQ where we actually played as Alphinaud. This was definitely a weird choice in the grander scope of the narrative... We've seen what other ppl were doing in the story in different parts of the world from a god's eye perspective plenty of times before, but this was the first time the narrative forced us to play as another character, to take on another role other than the one we chose/created for ourselves. Now I'm thinking the developer's did this to subliminally invoke a stronger sense of attachment to Alphinaud from the players. Since we got to play as him, we were him... however briefly, and thus we get more feels when he dies...
