First off, Halicarnassus was a repeat boss in the sense that the name was the same, but the form was different.Omega hasn't thrown anything at us that we've fought before so far. Midgardsormr just doesn't fit the pattern.
Also, that just....doesn't look anything like him anyway. Midgardsormr's full body is limbless aside from wings (and also enormous, but that's easily handwaved, as with Bahamut and Alexander). The dragon in the trailer has legs.
Second, are you forgetting that Middy has his minion and mount forms as well? Those both have wings and four legs.
One character looked like Trance Kuja
Too much JRPG gives you amnesia, huh? :P 2 pages arguing about if it's Midgard or not. As someone else said rewatch the O8 scenes, Midgard is completely relevant to this story and the obvious choice for who it is in the trailer. Why would we fight some completely irrelevant distraction dragon from FFX or whatever after Chaos from FF1 in a tournament style setting? Omega reveres Midgard's power so it's totally logical he'd recreate it to try and shut us down.
Looks like something huge goes down in the story but it's hard to tell what exactly. The vision becomes distorted around our character and the scions / company leaders. Suzaku looks beautiful, glad it now seems distinct from Phoenix, was worried after the Livestream preview. Hard to glimpse the new gear but from I can see the new raid / tome gear looks sleek with minor blue glows on it.
meanwhile what I'm most happy about is we'll see more of Sadu and Magnai <3 oh and Shadowhunter yeah
why doesn't fit? i mean, he testing our strenght, so what better way to do what make us fight against a simulacrum of midgardsormr on his prime?(since he did become a lot weaker once he did sit down on hydaelin)
Here's the thing that was heavily emphasized throughout this entire storyline - Omega is creating beings as simulations to test strengths and improve himself. It isn't random at all - Omega and Midgard have had multiple interactions with one another. It isn't at all surprising that Omega may decide to create a simulation of Midgard and pit it against the WoL to see if their strength can overcome the King of Dragons. Pretty positive Omega considered Midgard a fairly powerful being as well.Omega hasn't thrown anything at us that we've fought before so far. Midgardsormr just doesn't fit the pattern.

Now we wait for the 3 jobs and 2 new races in 5.0.
