Here's my suggestion: an event that actually works.
Here's my suggestion: an event that actually works.

Rising 2019, enter an instance by talking to an NPC that randomly spawns for 30 mins in 1 of 50 locations throughout all of Eorzea. Once the NPC despawns it will respawn again at another location somewhere between 5-9 hours from despawn time (respawn timer is random time between 5:00:00 and 9:00:00 hours). Serious players will need to keep checking all 50 locations at regular intervals during the respawn window!
Once inside the instance take on FATEs that are spec'd for 100+ players to be present. These FATEs do not scale down if less players are present and they have a 15 min completion timer.
Gold gets you 20 tokens, silver gets you 10 tokens, and bronze gets you 5 tokens.
You need 999 tokens to buy tattoo.
Please look forward to it!

No I strongly disagree with this because unlike the earrings or any other goodies from 1.0, that tattoo's sole purpose is to mark a player as a 1.0 character. It was designed to do only one thing and it should stay that way.
I dont like the Event, it getting worser with the new content SE release - i love this game, but right now ? nope!

But the earrings could have marked a 1.0 character too.
And I mean, if they're concerned how common it'll get, just make it behind a random spawning npc again.I'll still try for it because it'll fit my alt's glam perfectly.

What i actually missed out from 1.0 was the titles earned during that time. Ah... if only I realized early and get that 'Notorious Monster Hunter' Title..

Jijifli, considering this thread has 8+ pages of responses, I doubt any of us are able to get through to why you, nor anyone who began an account once 2.0 started, will never get a legacy tattoo. /Sigh, let me see if I can explain, because I have nothing better to do right now other than try to wake up this morning.
In order to get a legacy tattoo, you had to have paid a full 3-month subscription during 1.0, which was waaay back in 2010. The mark symbolizes those who played in the world and survived the calamity. The developers were also apologetic and regretful about the poor state the game was in during this time and wanted to leave the characters with rewards, or thank-yous, for continuing to support them by playing the game during that time. This tattoo, among other perks, was the result of this statement.
I guess you could think of this one-time tattoo as a cool-looking scar? It would make a person look kind of strange if they asked, "Why can't I have that?" Or maybe you could think of it as a type of prize a person wins at a drawing, even though it's a bad comparison.
My point is that you cannot simply ask for this option for your character. There is a sole reason legacy players have this mark, and it would be a slap in the face for not only all players who experienced the calamity, but it would diminish the value of Square Enix's "thank-you" message to the players ...COMPLETELY. This is why everyone is upset with you asking for this.
I may be OK with the purchase of the tattoo...in a different color that distinguishes new vs calamity-survivors? MAYBE. But it's still controversial to discuss.
I'm pretty sure you are trolling, too, and my words are probably (again) falling on deaf ears... but if not, then one day you will understand.

But I was already told in the thread you didn't need a sub, just a character. I thought the 3 month reward was the lower sub cost, which would be rude to make for everyone.Jijifli, considering this thread has 8+ pages of responses, I doubt any of us are able to get through to why you, nor anyone who began an account once 2.0 started, will never get a legacy tattoo. /Sigh, let me see if I can explain, because I have nothing better to do right now other than try to wake up this morning.

And looking at it as a scar doesn't change my mind on it. My alt could still look amazing with it. Plus you all got to play with it for 5 years, why can't I get a turn?
