    God my eyes. It's awful. And the game is full with such examples. Some housing items are plain horrible. Some gear sets have specific textures in potato quality and some other textures on slightly better quality and this makes some gear sets horrible.
    SE seriously needs to work the game's texture and release HD/HQ textures. By the time the next expansion will be out it will already be 2019 (Q3/Q4).
    The game looks outdated because of the textures more than anything else.

    Well we finally have it. 100% confirmation that we really won’t be seeing any upgrades on the graphical side for a very long time.

    This was part of a response from Yoshi from gamescom “Since FFXIV had PS3 support, its graphics technology is 2 generations behind. If we had high poly models/hi-res textures ((unclear)) then we could just swap them out, but we don't. A lot of things were created low poly/low-res from the start for cost-saving, so we would have to recreate all of them in order for the improved graphics to look good.”

    But they sure do have enough time and assets to charge us for a mobile app, give me a break.

    I can get behind allowing for an option for higher texture in the game, definitely. I cannot however get behind these textures being the minimum specifications, even with Advancements in technology.

    This is the most glaringly outlandish "how did this end up in the release product", any non-player model in the cutscenes that you see up close, should have had higher resolution textures. Period. Compare that to the sleeves on the Shisui gear.

    They HAVE higher poly models, Version 1.0 had them. What Yoshi-P is referring to is actually making stuff that would be suitable for the 4K/high-end-PC/PS4Pro type of equipment and there just isn't a high enough install base to justify doing that at this time.

    Low-poly'ing models is what you do after you've designed them. If they straight up designed things that way from the beginning... I'm sorry, how many times have we seen things that were recycled from FFX/FFXI/FFXII/FFXIII? You can't tell me they didn't use those models as a base. Someone else at SE already gave-away the secret that they can make HD remasters of anything PS2 or later. It's the PS1 games they might forever by hobbled without a full blown remake (hence FF7 getting a long-overdue remake.) It's not like Autodesk isn't still making 3D Studio Max.

    Hair models in this game are pretty bad, especially if you play on a bigger race. You can tell that they just stretched the models out for elezen.

    The game is most likely too big to remaster just like FFXI.

    Graphics isn't everything anyways .

    Look at Black Desert Online, they just released their remaster this week and it's barely 3 years old. It looks like a PS6 game now o.o. It's too bad it's still the same grindfest xD.
