PSA/ALERT: Houses are getting demolished when they shouldn't. SE needs to see this!

Even with old games, such databases exist. I guarantee you, that's how the one-time item reimbursement works (they need some way or verifying they actually had something to misplace to begin with). They could use it to verify the existence of the bug - provided they are given correct and useful information. P-servers don't generally deal with how large of a scale the legitimate servers do. Starting with hard truths to submit to customer service would go a long way (this would be time and date of last known 'owning' of house; time and date when noticed the house was no longer in the player's possession, plot, etc.).

I figured as much, just didn't want to assume. Times have changed since I last touched a server, I'm sure, but everything still revolve around a database that holding player information. Welp, hopefully in the case that this turns out to be true, hope SE does the right thing and returns those houses to people who lost them due to error on their part.

They won't be returning houses, I'll bet everything I have - unless something comes up to show that those who have the houses now got it ungainfully or somehow caused the previous owners to lose them. They won't take a house away from someone who bought it in good faith, even if it was a mistake that it was originally lost.

It did not take over a month. It took only a few days for them to acknowledge it after I made the thread, and the week after they patched it in.

The amount of "are you SURE it wasn't on the housing demo?" has been a repeated, annoying question. The people who make these kind of threads are very well aware, you would know if someone lost their house to timer demo and would not know it as the question would be phrased of "hey, haven't been on in a while and my house is gone!"

For those affected, I hope you get some sort of compensation. I'd be devastated if I lost my house. There have also been known issues about demo timer emails not going out properly, which has caused issues.

OK, so it took 15 days after Harvey hit to suspend demolition for the US (after petitions). The first suspension which was for the Kumamoto Earthquake was enacted 3 days after the Earthquake. Still a significant difference.

I sometime go a couple of weeks without playing one or two of my Alts, especially patch time, so I don't always go into their houses.

So has anyone who has a house checked your demolition timer lately?

It's maybe possible that, somehow, since they disabled the timers on the Japanese side recently, the timers have just stopped refreshing. i.e., they're just counting down and never resetting back to full time.

I checked mine this morning after the servers came up. But a demolition timer will not show up in your Estate Timers tab until just a few days before it's scheduled to be demolished (I think the threshold is 10 days before?).

When they stop the auto-demo timer, they stop it for all datacenters at the same time. And they have stopped it for natural disasters in both Japan and NA.

Usually, yes. But this time it was just the JP data centers in response to the flooding they had in July.

lol This is too true. Which hopefully is a good thing in this instance and SE will take notice and find the problem here if there is one.

The developers simply need to throw their hands up in defeat and admit that the current approach to housing just isn't working. There's just so many issues with the current model and it's causing frustration across the board for a number of players. Other MMO's provide player housing for everybody who desires it. Why can't FFXIV do the same? If there's 'limitations' then why not use some of the money made from the Mog Station to tackle them?

A friend of mine bought a house and logged out inside it, he didn't play for 3 weeks and when he logged back in, it was gone, someone else had ownership of the plot.

He didn't report it because ultimately he wasn't that fussed about it, but it is still something I recall of this nature, might be incredibly rare or some other bits have been on the fritz, they should defo look into it.
