Bad random streak there. Did 18% melds in 1/3 before. Random is random.

^^This is what the U/U melding fans are really asking for from the developer's perspective. ^^
It's a huge undertaking that wouldn't even be started until well after 2.0 is released.
If they do make U/U melding possible, restrict it to green items, and restrict it to a single materia, and give it a 7% success rate. (same cumulative chance as a 3rd meld)

Hi DoctorMog,
Totally agree.![]()
Yoshida-san, please allow Materia Melding on Unique / Untradeable Gear. A lower % rate of success is one way to balance it; or balance the stats in a way to allow them to be on par with at least ~1 - 3 Materia Melded Gear (obviously some Ifrit Weapons are OK, but the vast majority of U/U Gear is inferior to 1 - 2 Materia Melded Gear).
The sad part is, rebalancing Stats for old Gear (FNM drops, Dzemael) takes very few resources away from your 2.0 work (it's # adjustments). And allowing Materia Melding on them isn't too toilsome, either (compared to, say, creating brand new armor sets, etc.).
If you do some searching around, you'll find that they are already thinking about it, and if you really want to make "raid" gear as powerful as something with 3 materia in it, you better make it as rare of an occurrence
Difficult content that requires you to best dungeons and difficult bosses in order to have access to a RNG-governed chest. Sounds like loot from such content would be worthy of such high stats. So long as content providing such powerful loot maintains that minimum as a standard, then all is well.
The one thing they definitely need to do is make Green W gear meldable - even if with limitations and/or lower success rates.
Also, all loot should be convertible - not necessarily with a higher tier yield expectancy.
ungh... how many times to I have to say this..Hi DoctorMog,

There is no system in place that allows you to meld, craft, or alter multiple items simultaneously in another person's inventory or Bazaar.
If you want it after 2.0, fine... but I'd rather they just boost stats a bit for endgame U/U items (of which there are only 51)

I agree this would balance U/U and crafted gear. However, this would be a nightmare for linkshell leaders. Think for a sec if in FF11 you could meld Ridill and E.Body. People killed themselves just to get one copy of these items. What would happen if you wanted to obtain 10 of them to double meld? Not a fun situation to think about.
Other solutions have been mentioned so I won't go there, but I'm in favor of giving U/U items one free slot and limiting crafted items to 2-3 slots.

1 patch later and darkhold is useless.
remind me why I should ever step foot in there again?
Or for a new player: Ever?
