I was running the Praetorium on an alt this morning, enjoying my book during the cutscenes. Once we got to Gaius a couple people decided to use the “exploit” (idk if I’d really call it an exploit) to skip past the longer cutscenes and start the fights. I don’t care if people do that - you won’t get too far into the fights with only one or 2 people anyway by the time the scenes finish anyway, so I kept it rolling with my book.

After the encounter with Gaius one of the cheesers told us we should be helping kill the bosses instead of watching cutscenes. That set off my nah-uh-o-meter and promptly reported him as soon as we finished(so like, 20 minutes later). The GM I spoke to said they don’t take exploiting and encouraging others to exploit lightly.

So I suppose I would say this is a word of caution - don’t be intentionally disconnecting to get past the cutscenes, don’t queue for it at all if you aren’t prepared to sink an hour into one instance.

This exploit is spreading. Any more and the devs are gonna step in with a heavy hand. Good on you for reporting, though. I'd have done the same thing.

I sincerely doubt the GM's actually did anything other than give their boilerplate response.

I like to believe that GMs actually give a damn about their job and the spirit of the game.

So do I but I think they have bigger issues they should take care of, like the huge number of bots. A handful of people skipping cutscenes should be the least of their worries right now.

Gubal Library to get my alts WHM to 60.

    WAR, NIN and BLM.

Starts out fine. The trash is melting at an ok rate, single pulls but I don't mind taking it slow.

First boss. BLM is just gonna stand in everything. Looks like they're dodging at first, so I esuna the debuffs and top them off.

Next set of stuff, they stand in the line aoe AND the puddle and nearly die. Whatever, I'll esuna them again, and top them off again.

They do it again and I just put a regen on them, at this point they built up a resistance to the debuffs.

Whatever, we do the trash again.

    Get to the second boss.

The first thing that happens is the BLM decides they wanna dodge the targeted aoe that follows them and aim it at me. -internal healer rage rises-

We get to the adds and the first set of fire goes to the NIN, they do it correctly, run through the boss and we continue to try and kill it, with everyone running the line aoe at everyone else.

The next set of adds start up, and we kill one. The WAR gets the orb, and runs to the other add, kills it and then runs towards the boss. I think they're gonna go it right as they dodge the wind orb, but NOPE.

THEY SIT THERE AND BOTH FIRES POOF INTO NOTHING!

I stop to type and let them know what to do, and then go to top people off, but by the time I am casting my second cure II, the stacks of vuln and the room aoe kill me and the BLM.

    O_____O -internal screaming-

Whatever. We do it again and it goes ok.

Yadda yadda. We kill trash, move to the last boss.

It was going ok. Me and the NIN were getting targeted by the purple orbs, and we're putting them on the edges of the arena. The first set of the adds don't pop.

It's around the second set that the BLM gets targeted with an orb, near the middle of the arena and just leaves it there. Then PROCEEDS TO JUST STAND IN IT.

It was my choice of healing the tank or the BLM. I picked the tank, let them die.

The second set of add one spawns, I get the BLM up, and we kill it.

BLM continues to soak up DMG and leave the orbs in the middle of the arena.

I get clipped by there's and then on in the middle on the way to help with the third set of adds and eat the ground. The WAR, NIN and the BLM all left their orbs in the middle.

I explain that they need to not do that and the NIN says in defense they were LBing.

FINE. But the BLM left theirs in the middle EVERY SINGLE TIME.

It's a wipe and we redo it.

The BLM gets one of the first sets of orbs and STANDS IN IT.

and I try to heal them through it. I do for the first one and then they get another one. They're up to 7 stacks of vuln, and nearly getting one shot by the orbs by the time they decide to move out of the stupid things.

    -wheezing-

I miss my days of being an innocent DPS only.

I am becoming a bitter old healer.

I have to say that reading through this thread has made me a better player. It also made me much less afraid to try tanking (now a tank main) because I figured that at least I wouldn't be as bad as some of the people in the stories here. So...thanks guys!

Now for storytime. It was back in Heavensward and I was levelling SCH late at night. I'm on the night shift so I mostly play at ungodly hours. I queue up for a roulette and loaded into Aery -fun dungeon to heal so yay, cast protect, and waited for the DRK to start moving. Except she didn't. A few seconds later in party chat they said something to the effect of "In order to protest the unfairness of the vote kick system I will not tank this dungeon and demand that you kick me." The dps and I were kind of shocked and asked the tank to go since we hadn't kicked her or done anything to warrant her being so rude. She didn't say anything else, so we waited for the five minutes and kicked her. We hung around for a while and waited for another tank but eventually left.

I was determined to get that level so I queue again and...it's the same tank, in the Aery again. Who proceeds to post the same message. Again. I was in roulette so it wasn't like I was trying to get into Aery- other the whim of an angry god I don't even know how this happened. This time I told the DPS about my last encounter and not to kick her. If she wanted to leave she could take the penalty. Again, not a word from the tank beyond that first message and she won't leave. So the DPS and I hang around and chat until the 30 minute mark when a vote kick appears and passes.

I was fairly new and didn't even consider reporting her, at the time I thought blacklisting someone meant you wouldn't end up with them in a party. I just don't understand the point of what she was doing. Maybe she got kicked from a party so she decided to ruin everybody else's fun?

So first, congrats on becoming a better player. I know that i sometimes recommend this thread to newer players for kinda the reasons you say: "Look how bad these other people are! You can clearly do better."

As for your story, i cant say i understand that behavior either. "I dont like a system the devs have in place(was probly kicked by some previous group) so im going to waste the time of and irritate as many people as i can." Asking for a kick to avoid the lockout timer is reportable, so i imagine this would be too. Another thing you can do, rather then sit and wait, is try to do the dungeon without a tank. Ive been in plenty of situations where the tank had connection issues and we just tried the next pull and kept going. Its harder on the healer, its harder on the DPS, and some bosses you need to get creative... but almost every dungeon(and possibly all of them) can be done that way.

I got kicked from a dungeon run because I wasn't part of their clique. They had Discord and I didn't feel like joining, so they booted me out. Also, they were trying to get all the loot for his friend when dungeon was halfway done.

Just got out of a Normal Raid Roulette. I'd been afraid of doing Normal Raid Roulette for the longest because people always did Alexander unsynced before now (I started in Stormblood), so I figured people wouldn't know mechanics and things would get out of hand fairly often. But barring a few awful runs of A11, the Raid Roulette parties seem to be fairly decent at handling things or at least learning from past mistakes and adjusting next time.

So today, I queue for it and get A9. And I think that's fine since this is a fairly easy boss.

Faust comes out and we die because the Tank leads it onto the falling platform. Okay, that's fine. I'll just explain that we should keep the Faust away from platforms that collapse and we won't make that mistake next time.

On the next run, the Tank leads adds onto the falling platform twice in a row and we die. Again, I remind them kindly that the robots should not be alive on the platform when we're doing this mechanic.

Third time, we again die because the Tank leads Faust to the platform and I'm starting to get a little frustrated, but I again say "Do not put living robots onto the platform."

The tank's response is "Oh, yeah, I forgot."

I guess dying three times to the same thing wasn't memorable enough.
