Egh. If common sense would stop people from buying overpriced digital goods, then anyone with common sense wouldn't buy from the mog station at all, because just about every single thing on there is way overpriced for a digital item.

Pretty sure there will be people who buy the snow cone. And SE is just gonna keep track and adjust price points accordingly in the future to maximize profits. Business as usual.

SE probably feels it's safe to have the cash shop so long as it doesn't contain gachapon/lootboxes. If they ever do that, the game will be committing seppuku. SE has already gone down the path of pre-order DLC insanity for FFXV and the Tomb Raider games. While they certainly can do that, it's basically saying that the game is incomplete or broken at the lower price, and it just encourages piracy since the pirate versions would end up being complete and unhindered by cash shop nonsense. DLC and Cash Shop features in a single player game, especially mobile games, tend to be an exploit hole to take all the difficulty out of the game. "Here's a hard game, now pay 9.99 to have easy mode" s/

At least, in a MMORPG context, stuff like this tends to be obvious when it's P2W, and when it becomes P2W, the bottom third of the players who will never pay for anything will quit rather than spend money on "optional not-optional" cash shop items to keep from being drowned or smothered by the 1%'ers with bottomless pockets.

For every person who said "if you don't like it don't buy it" in previous mog station threads, this is the slippery slope people were warning about, the actions of a few do affect everyone else when they decide to price things with those few in mind. Although this isn't even the first case of badly priced items

(while trying to defend the game in any way you can, making excuses for them) You get over yourself, with your excuses for your actions and SEs. The only reason to say something like "It's entirely possible their vendor doesn't allow purchases lower than $5." because you want to defend them.

I know there’s a recipe but I think it’s just an odd consumable (but someone else will have to check that) - it’s in the normal list, not the housing section, and it’s a Lv1-5 recipe requiring a Lv40 harvested ingredient.

Yes, you can craft Rolanberry Shaved Ice but that was used as a turn-in item during one of the Summer Events (not the same one the furniture one came from though).

And while I'm no fan of the Cash Shop, I dont see this being the end of the world... that thing wasnt even worth the effort of crafting 10 haddocks and handing them in during the event (I believe thats what you had to do, was a pain) nor is it worth taking up an item-slot in the house (and interactive one, even!). But thats something everyone has to decide for themself.
What we wont decide anymore is the Cash Shop - thats not going anywhere, no matter how much anyone cries and screams. Seeing how it brought us content that people enjoy and that would have not been in the game otherwise, I'm okay with that.
Sad that they dont always include old years vendor items in the event, but... thats probably not gonna change either. So if its really bothering you and hurting your experience that much you might not be to happy with the game...

While your explanation is informative. It doesn't really give it sound reasoning. You're comparing apples to oranges because MMOs are never complete and this game being a "sub based" game means it would hurt itself with a P2W practice.

This is not pay to win but they are clearly double dipping on "already used" assets and charging for them instead of bringing them back in game. They don't have to repeat the whole event like the Lightning events. Every "season related" event or "yearly iteration" can and should be providing access to the old items. Charging for an additional "level boost" or a "unique effect" cuz of the "authentic" prefix is really not worth putting them in mog station.
