It's part of your kit for a reason.

Some people seem to lose respect for dungeons as they get into raiding and rather than retain the "lets get this over with quickly" mentality seem to adopt a "I've killed X boss so nothing in here matters" one.

I've been guilty of this a little bit myself - there was a pretty long time after getting all my healers leveled that I didn't heal any leveling dungeons and when I went back to it to help a friend level a dps I got knocked on my butt.

I'm not saying this is a hugely widespread issue but I see the basic very geared player + basic content = fail equation line up enough that they can't all be buying clears. Sadly I don't think much beyondd a particularly embarassing wipe will break people out of it so that tank is likely still out there playing like crap when he dungeons.

Just came out of a run as a DPS in Amdapoor Keep, and the chat at the end of the fight bothered me a lot. Up until the final boss, the run went smooth as rain - had a DRK, BLM, and WHM with me and everything was going fine. About 2/3rds of the way through the fight, the BLM was standing directly behind the boss and wasn't paying attention to the fact that the tank had re-positioned it (or maybe forgot that the tail hits hard and give concussions). I can tell myself that the BLM was out of the healer's range, and in their attempt to get out of the way of the tail, they not only still get hit with it, they get even further away from WHM's heal.

Naturally, the DoT kills the BLM. Myself, the WHM, and the DRK proceed to finish off the boss about 10 seconds later. The chat proceeds as follows:

BLM: You know, you can heal instead of nuke, you're a WHM, right?

WHM: ROFL, you know you can dodge mechanics instead of standing in them, right? <leaves the instance>

BLM: Hope you're in a car wreck tonight

Me thinking to myself: wtf, really?

I dunno if I should report this or not, but wow, that escalated quickly. Jenova peeps, check your players. Some of them are, indeed, jerks.

You know what I do not get? Why there are some that say FFXIV community is so much better then other online ones and to me, just seems the same. You have your bad apples, and the few that are always trying help others.

Enter a dungeon and you see stuff dying slowly, and wonder why. DPS are using all their AoEs, PLD seems to be trying with Total Eclipse, and.. then it is picked out.. no dots of the likes of Miasma II, Miasma, Bio. So this information was considered for next pull and saw the SCH just stand there for 3/4th each of the monsters' hp or so. So when someone spoke up they casted a few broils, mouthed off how the person asking them not to stand around is being toxic (only to comment back that it is toxic to be doing nothing for the run) I guess fairy only memes hold true. Anyways so the first fight the SCH does nothing and tries to hold the group hostage for them to be kicked.

Oh I would report that, very uncalled for. I would take wishing RL harm on someone over a video game to be very serious.

IIRC, Castrum Abania ilvl syncs you down to 290 I believe, so you can't really outgear the dungeon; hence why he was getting super shredded on top of not using CDs.

I wonder what his line of thought was to pulling in sword oath though; considering any half decent dps will out-aggro him in less than 20 seconds unless he was chain casting flash (or spamming halone on bosses), at which point he's just invalidated any dps gains he got with sword oath and is going negative on benefit.

Ah...you're back. Welcome back. I got cold feet, to be honest, so I didn't report. I have a bad habit of that. It was weird too, because literally nothing in that run went bad. I didn't think it was a big deal that the BLM died when we cleared shortly after, but some people take minor things like that too seriously, I suppose. I think I still have the screenshot of the chat log, but meh...that was yesterday, so likely it's too late to act upon it.

GMs don't veiw screenshots and no it is not too late though be helpful if you give a good idea when (exact time or least a range being within 1 hr, give timezone) and where it took place.

On a related note. I try to make it a point of giving player commendations but, very often, the party bails at the end so fast I'm lucky if there's even one left.....

Do you have it set so that you auto skip cutscenes you have seen? If not, that might be why they exit before you can do so. If not, then it's just something you might need to fiddle with in your HUD for the placement of the commendation bubble pop-up.

I was in a Rabanastre party the other day that wiped on Mateus twice. I mean Ice Slaves everywhere to the point where we all died during the Rebind attack. No one stood in the water or helped pop bubbles.

The next run, Mateus got Frostwave up to 100%.

Surprisingly, this is the first time this has happened to me, but I got put in Baelsar's Wall today and everything went smoothly until the last boss, when the DPS decided to tunnel on the Boss (who was 30% health) and not free me... the poor tank tried, but that ended up wiping us. I'd say it's a fairly common dungeon mechanic though, so I was surprised to die to it. > < ;

I've never posted here, but I saw the strangest thing a couple of days ago and I just had to share...

I joined a 70 roulette, we got kugane castle, the party seemed pretty fine. Except, from the get go, the run was very slow.

Warrior wasn't pulling a lot, taking small packs at a time - must be new, I thought. I don't mind going a bit slow if he's learning.
But then! Then I checked his gear. He was decked out in full diamond armor, had the HoH weapon, the whole shebang. And then I start to pay attention to the abilities he's using, and he's spamming the aggro rotation, the standard 1-2-3 over and over, spamming overpower in groups until his tp ran out (had to goad him a few).


There weren't any wipes or anything, but it was still an incredible scene to behold. How the hell did he get his hands on that gear?
