Stormblood in my opinion was a downgrade. I thoroughly enjoyed Heavensward. Iv taken big breaks since SB launch. More than any other and its not because I had better things to do.I actually reactivated my wow account because it's just not that great and I needed to fill a void that ffxiv just isnt filling. It seemed very copy and paste as far as patches go. Maybe because the theme park is really starting to show its age. POTD was cool addition but HoH is literally copy and paste easy mode. Eureka is different but it gets very boring quickly. Doman enclave? Trade junk watch new stalls get put in... for what?? Glamour NPCs that only I can see?? What?? Lolol.. anywho.. is what it is I suppose. I'll still play. Just mildly less interested.

I didn't touch on the Doman Enclave, but that was especially underwhelming. I recall last week when I finally finished and what do I see? A completely barren zone. Literally no one around. I know it's ultimately insignificant, however it certainly didn't feel good compared to watching Idllyshire gradually change with everyone around. I also never felt like I was contributing much of anything. Each week I just dumped Grade IV materia I had been hoarding since Heavensward and called it done. Guess Doma really has bad luck with overmelds...

I'm loving this expansion, just as I loved the previous one. The story is always interesting to me, and there's always enough new fluff content to keep me very entertained. Also, while I admit that I didn't like Eureka back when it was released (not like I made a ruckus about it anyway, as I simply understood it was aimed at other kind of players), I've recently ended up having a blast there, to the point that I'm willing to level a second character now that my first one is about to reach lv.20.

August is going to have several interesting updates (which hopefully include the summer event!), and September will have 4.4, so my hype for FFXIV is high right now.

Still waiting for them to release something better than Dragonsong this expansion.

I feel like the best storytelling of Stormblood ended when Zenos "died". After that moment in the story everything else just felt like useless writing up until playing as alphinaud on the burn.

I dislike the relic weapon questline in this expansion compared to HW. The primal fights are good as to be expected with a follow up expansion. However I was disappointed in HOH. None of the new dungeons have really caught my eye.

The 24 man and Omega series though however are great storylines and it seems those 2 along with Hildibrand are holding this expansion together.

I will agree with people saying it's good but lacking wow moments a bit. They are still introducing new systems but it's not enough to shake a lot of people feeling fatigue from the static formula. Next month is 5 year anniversary of ARR and it's time for some major shakeups. v5.0 gameplay should have a significantly different feel to v2/3/4.

They could change the type of objectives, the difficulty and the rewards that FATEs offer in the new zones (apart from still offering exp). They could cannibalise resources spent on traditional dungeons even more (down to just 1 per patch on even numbered patches) and put those resources into new ideas or increasing the amount of raid/trial content, things that have more replayability. If we had 2 extreme trials per patch they could always offer accessories in one of them and weapons in the other.

They could experiment more with number of participants. Some dungeons could be 8-player instead of 4. Some trials could be 4-player or 24-player alliance (not extreme ones I guess). They could add tower defense content, escort missions, labyrinth escape, arena survival against endless waves of increasingly difficult enemies. They could change the reward structure, add cross-world social/casual/RP content, etc

I found the story better than ARR but worse than HW. It never felt like we were at war against Garlemald and we somehow got two countries back without doing that much. The main characters like Lyse also felt less interesting than Ysayle or Estinien and I honestly dont really care much about her. The landscapes are also mostly not my taste. Ruby sea feels utterly liveless under water and I still find it bad that the city Ala Mhigo is mostly a dungeon. In that way Ala Mhigo feels more like an afterthought next to Doma. (But imo both suffered from this)

Gameplay wise nothing much changed and the new content like Eureka was not my thing. So for me SB was worse than HW and I really hope that the next expansion shakes things up otherwise I am not sure if I will sub that often anymore.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Yeah this happened super fast and without much struggle, and seemingly only took a couple dozen people to liberate these nations. Have to use your imagination to picture an epic war involving hundreds more troops than the engine can render. Nothing in-game can really compare to The Battle of Carteneau in the ARR opening movie which is really the kind of scale and force you'd expect to be needed for reclaiming nations. Likewise the debut of
Shinryu and Omega lacked the weight of the Bahamut reveal due to it being in-game rather than movie.
The overall plot is compelling, just need to pretend some parts are grander than budget allows.

    It's been mostly fine.

I really like that the raids have been mostly referential, I feel like that's kind of the point of a Final Fantasy MMO on some level.

I don't like that almost all the new gear has been hideous. There have been very few sets that made me think "I want to collect that whole set because of how it looks", almost everything seems like it was made to be glamoured over.
