what if they make an official announcement(in the forums, lodestone, that window that you use to login the game, email, every form of social media that they use) that due to the BS at hand, they need to cancel/refund all the tickets, and then they need to verify that tickets were purchased by the original holders of the access codes using their account email. I know what your thinking, what if they just got the access code off of an open post in reddit or facebook. well thats ok, because ideally when the email is sent to the original owner of the access code, they would be requested to verify it and upon verifying it they would be charged by SE for the full price of the Ticket(S)(this will prevent people from letting someone else use their access code especially if they obtained it through shared means, because the original owner probably won't want to pay for someone elses ticket to fanfest. If someone doesn't reply within 14 days, the ticket gets revoked, and the ticket goes back up for sale in a second wave. Those that obtained their access code through legitimate means (email from SE) will have nothing to fear, and only those intended to go in the first place will actually end up going. It goes without say that they should probably get a different ticket vendor too. problem solved

Anyway, I've been to every Fan Fest that's happened in the NA region since 2006, during the FFXI days, and haven't missed one yet (and no, I didn't get a ticket either). the silence is utterly deafening.
Butthurt ? I am not laughing at all. I get many are disapointed, but some reaction are just plain sad. Like if lives are destroyed or friendships are killed of by not getting a ticket.

Make your own private/FC irl gathering if they are that important. Much easier with travel planning, money, hotel bookings, emotional bonds. The best part you dont need go buy a ticket ! What bunch of shitty excuses again.

I hope you had fun on every fanfest you have been too and too bad you didnt get a ticket. But there will be people in your place at the fanfest and having fun. You guys didnt get a ticket, deal with it and better luck next time.

people not going is an inevitability, and if you can't go, you can't go, but this isn't even about that. this is about an obviously flawed system with problems that clearly have not been addressed. I'm just going to assume that you already know what the problem with the system is. imagine your in a ticket line irl, you give the guy at the first checkpoint your access code, and proceed to take your place in line, people are jumping in line behind you and In front of you in no apparent order. 10 minutes into this the the checkpoint guy says "alright guys enough of that, from here on out I'm gonna need to see those access codes, but you guys that already entered can stay in line" so he continues business as usual, but after giving him the access code, people cut in line regardless, and theres people on the street corner handing out free access codes for no apparent reason. the checkpoint guy ignores this, you look ahead of the line and people(access code or not) are bypassing the line altogether and going to the ticket master while hes in the middle of giving someone else there ticket and instead of saying "you have to wait your turn like everyone else." he says "it's cool, I got you fam." now consider that some of these people are scalpers with no interest In attending, whose tickets will become useless anyways. that's not a line, or a queue. that's not even a lottery. it's just one big disorganized disgraceful mess.

I can understand fanfest growing, I can understand that no matter what venue people will be left out. But I can't fathom fanfest selling as fast as a bigger convention such as PAX, one of the most important ones. In 2016 I got tickets for fanfest at 7pm at night. This year it sold out in 20 minutes. And even then, the system was so broken that certain people got ahead of others and didn't even require the access code. Say I didn't play the game but was curious about it and didn't even have an access code, should I even get such a ticket? I can understand SE wanting to extend the period of players not playing, cuz heck many of my friends stopped playing. They did the story and done. But for people to use the code multiple times, for people to skip queue lines and for people to not even have access codes and still buy tickets is disheartening for many.

I read most of the posts here, I play FF XIV, since 2013 in the beta, it was something new for me, I live in São Paulo - Brazil, last year, when the announcement of the Fan Festival 2018 came out I was excited to go, I knew the USA, so I was determined to participate in this event, so I started my saga, take a passport, take the American visa, then I booked hotel, and air tickets, ok, I needed to get tickets for the event, I always follow any info that I came out about it, I even had concern when they informed me that the mailing needed to be activated to receive the access code, I contacted Square a few weeks ago, stating that in Square-Enix Members my email was wrong, okay they answered me , and I was sent the code on 07-03-2018, I was well anxious as the vast majority, so I opened the website for sales I entered, 12:00 pm PDT USA - here in Brazil 16:00 pm, and I was thrown to queue, always obeying not to refresh the page, when I saw that it was delaying I was already discouraged, I saw the message saying that all the tickets were booked, after 24 minutes when I entered, was already sold out, for 2 days I was disappointed, but Otherwise, I'll have the opportunity to get to know Las Vegas, so I'll enjoy the week there to the fullest, it was frustrating to admit, I kind of ran, I ran and I died at the finish line, but Okay life goes on

Perusing this topic again, this really stuck out to me. How can we reach out and speak with the NA team when they make no attempt to speak with us? As of right now, Bayohne was the only one to come forward with a rather sterile statement and there's been silence since with absolutely 0 attempts to talk with us.

The fact that Foxclon even answered you about our issue shows we have virtually 0 communication while the JP community as least has some. (Like clarifying that NA is responsible for the NA FanFest, not the SE team as a whole.)

This is not the first time that this assessment has been made for English speakers, nor will it be the last.

Thank you JunseiKei, I hadn’t actually thought about it like this. It certainly provides a stark comparison and eases some of the disgust I was feeling playing the game.

That being said, I think the response we got, resulting silence, and the refusal to address core questions and pain points of the community is pretty disgraceful. I get in this case Bayohne may be forced to sit on his hands, but those above him should know better.

Cancelling the event is out of the question. The show must go on and many sunk costs are already realized. Ideally, three things should happen from here:

    1. Apology and further clarification about this debacle and update on investigations

    2. Internal review of process and application of new practices to avoid this

    3. Community facing plans to demonstrate learnings and how NA fan fests will proceed in light of this knowledge.

We can’t let this thread die. We deserve better as a community. Step up NA Group! I want this team to succeed!

I'm still holding out to a sliver of hope that they are trying to make accommodations to make more tickets available later. I knew some people would not get tickets because that's how these type of events go but to see this many get denied saddens me. I really hope with the live letter coming up that we get some much-needed clarification and updates on the situation.

I'm really hoping to see Yoshi stepping forward to address this matter in the upcoming PLL. My worry is that Yoshi and his teams are not correctly informed about the weight of the current situation fans are put in. I really hate to assume things, but from seeing NA Team's reaction(no reaction) to this, I think the NA team is telling Yoshi what he wants to hear and leaving out the flaw in the system and whatever responsiblilties NA team and showclix may have in this. It's a potential class-action matter(if the Law applies to any) between Showclix and the fans involving SE. Again, NA is dealing with non-native English speakers. Unless Aimi Tokutake steps forward to do thorough translations, NA team can control whatever they wanna report to HQ in Japan. That's the impression I had when Foxclon replied to my original JP thread.

I just want to state i don’t think this is wrong either. What would be great is some concrete communication instead of the stonewalling we’re seemingly getting right now. I get it can take time to rally an appropriate response depending on higher ups and such. But as with many things, timing is important and the longer we go without some acknowledgment or transparency the worse it will get from a optics basis.
