Yeah, my fiance and I got shafted pretty hard on that front. Surprised one of you even made it through the SURELY TOTALLY FUNCTIONAL digital queue. Sorry that happened. RIP.
I'll still probably be heading to Vegas regardless to see my friends who did make the cut and manage to get tickets. Another of our FC members lives in the area and I had been wanting to see them for ages, so it still works out.
With that said next time they need a venue that's twice the size. If there's THIS MUCH DEMAND they can't keep on using the same constrained venues as before. Hell, actually invite proper vendors, let people sell fanart. Do panels on mini-stages. The demand is clearly there, to the point the venue was sold out almost instantly. Surely next time adding a couple thousand seats wouldn't be too hard?
Anyone who makes fun of you for this can piss off. It's an awful experience having your heart set on something then screwed over because of an exploit being taken advantage of. Isn't much I can offer but my condolences and a hug. *big hug*
While I agree that it sucks people seem to have taken advantage of this situation I don't think anyone is entitled to tickets to anything. Being a football fan doesn't mean you're entitled to go to the superbowl, this is the same thing.
I'm sorry things didn't work out for you and many others, you guys have my sympathy, but you aren't entitled to tickets to an optional event and to think otherwise seems pretty entitled.
I've been feeling terrible all day and yesterday. This was a chance to meet some friends who I played the game with to go and I'm happy that I got in but some very sad some of my friends didn't. Like....I'm really bummed out
This is no different than trying to get tickets to a concert and it selling out. All people can do is protest and hope a larger venue happens next time . I do feel sorry for people but this is how it goes sometimes. Nothing can be done if a venue sells out. Happens all the time . Be disappointed but don’t cry ..... this sort of thing happens all the time
They failed so spectacularly in this that there's no way to properly own up to their mistakes. It's amazing to watch this unfold. There's a Duty Commenced in two days and I can only imagine Sicycre and Luxpheras doing everything they can do avoid the issue on Twitch, which will be awkward as all get out. They're not to blame in any way but they're gonna be the first SE reps the American fanbase sees since the ordeal began and it's gonna be strange.
Here are a few tips when ordering fan fair tickets,
*team up with 4 other people that way you have four chances who ever gets in buys all 4 tickets.
( have done this and have gone to three fan fairs which will include this one )
*request time of from work ( I just requested the time frame ) Can try going into website a few minutes early.
*IF you can't do it have a family or close friend do it for you.
This will help chances. While I do feel bad for people who did not get tickets you also have to take into consideration a few things;
Why are you going? The experience, the items, a planned vacation ect.
You can stream it like all previous years and even get the items offered regardless.
While it seems unfair events like these are pretty hard to book based on venues restrictions, timing. Once info is provided it would be leaked ect and second one would be meaningless to a point. hence why they do it separately and newer info as it the next one comes up. Would be dumb to have same info in all 3 -.-/
Yes in a perfect world it would happen, reality it's not a perfect world.
Events selling out this fast is nothing unusual. Followed by the mass calls of foul play and 'something went wrong, last one didn't sell out this fast, there's no way!" 2 years is a long time, FFXIV is a lot more popular now than it was last fan fest, also more people know about it this time since there have been two before it. If you look at other cons this kind of thing also has happened. First couple of Blizzcons didn't sell out super fast, third one did, and it has since.
Fact of the matter is, there's no way to accommodate everyone who wants to go. And no you're not 'entitled' to go. All you can do is take every precaution you can to increase your odds and hope you get in.
