I don't fully agree with this as I was ready to purchase with code in hand and wasn't asked for one when I attempted to complete my purchase. Taking my ticket away just because you didn't get a chance wouldn't be a tic for tac. I'd happily confirm my code too if I was actually asked.

Again, I don't want anyone who got away with access code to get punished from it. What I wanted to say was if the error was only few like they are mentioning, they it doesn't really hurt them to release the same number of tickets in addition. I'm sure they can squeeze in "few" more.

Can they go over what the venue is meant to hold? I do not think they can simply add extra tickets if the tickets they sold were at the capacity on the venue. Do not know the logistics behind organizing an event like this, but I am sure even if SE wanted they are not allowed toe sell more tickets then what the venue capacity is.

Yeah as salty as I am, I don't think taking away honest tickets would be a good idea. Let's say they refund all tickets, and set a second date for tickets. Imagine all the people who got tickets, who missed the second set. It wouldn't be fair. But SE can't really open more tickets since they are already near capacity.

Maybe they should make it where people would have to verify an in game mogmail item to show it's someone with an active service account.

well since we don't know how many the venue will hold vs the staff vs the actual ticket count who knows. granted I've heard some know the hotel capacity, but it seems way bigger than the amount of tickets I'd assume.

adding in on the ticket thoughts. what about at door tickets. they'll find out lots aren't coming due to not going with friends(friends didn't get tickets) or the bunches the scalpers are now having to sit on.

didn't they have at door tickets at '14? anyone that went know what that was like. plenty of people who had reservations may find that an option. I would.

Haha, I'm not surprised. I'm holding out for a week or two to see if anything is done since I still have plenty of time for the cancellation process, but it's real crappy that because two of the people in our room got in the queue at 12:00:01 instead of 12 sharp. I wonder if the hotel is going to contact Fanfestwith concerns on how many people from the conblock are canceling.

If you do end up cancelling, I urge you and others to talk about your experiences and for them to get in contact with the event coordinators. I'm sure Rio isn't happy with all these cancellations and having to refund money from people who would other-wise be spending money at their venue. At the very least, this will make sure this doesn't happen again for next year's Fanfest where people who book tickets aren't without a pass to the event itself.

Legally speaking, most likely not. Most conventions and event venues have to abide by a maximum capacity, as dictated by Fire Marshalls, in order for the business to operate.
Fire Marshal can and will completely shut something down if the organizers exceed that max capacity of humans in the building-- and that max capacity *includes* the staff who work in the venue, and the event staff.

Hang out with your friends in nearby restaurants, cosplay in the streets, just generally show that the community aspect of fanfest doesn't require a ticket sale. They're full? We'll overflow and adapt.

I'll be honest, I'm definitely planning on doing this.
Like many others, I've been counting down the months, weeks, days, etc, waiting for this weekend that allows me to escape my hellish home and workplace. The one thing that's kept me positive throughout this year has been planning this with my friends.
My friends were able to buy tickets; I was aiming to buy mine when I got paid Friday (note that my innocent past-self also had no idea that tickets last FanFest sold out within 10 hours).

Square Enix and Showclix heavily dropped the ball on this. FFXIV panels be damned. I'm going to see my friends, even if it means being in the lobby or outside.

See as much as I want to do that, I don't want to guilt my friends into missing the event and staying outside in the lobby because I missed my ticket.



I like the idea of everyone ghosting the convention so the fire marshal shuts it down so SE learns a lesson, but why ruin the fun of other guests for SE mistake.

I do find it interesting, if there was "no visible wrongdoing", then why did they find it necessary to lock names on tickets? That smells to me like they do know that a lot were scalped.
