Yeah, this. Everything we do in life has its share of jerks(OMG you should see my family reunions), and any online game will by virtue of online and anonymous status attract some nasty ones. Most of our community is either quiet-ish or fairly nice, so dont let a few bad seeds color your perspective too much. Also...
Letting you die/intentionally killing you? Jerk move(but tough to prove). Not reviving you? Fairly common - the instance is over, no need for you to carry weakness for a bit. Emoting at you? Jerk move - bordering on something more serious. Shaming and harassing? Clear violation of ToS. Report these people. If they cant learn to behave they can learn to be banned. The game wouldnt suffer if a handful of jerks left. Sorry you had to deal with them. But keep your spirits up. Shiva means youre almost through the 2.x patch series and into HW proper.

Full pulling in Expert dungeons has been standard since 2.0 (even normal in legacy); that's why the gates are there, and why every dungeon made since 2.0 has been a single hallway. Levelcap dungeons are pushovers even at minimum ilvl.
Purposely skipping a boss isn't a good thing to do, though.
Someone gets cleaved in Shiva 2/3 of the time.
At least you're almost done with ARR.
I agree, it sounds like that Shiva group deliberately planned it. If you go into your "Contacts" list in the Social menu, it should give you a list of all the players you have recently been in a party with, and which dungeon/trial it was for - so (unless you've run a lot of dungeons and pushed them out of the list), you can get their names that way and report them.
Really overreacting. Someone gets cleaved, someone does a few emotes.I agree, it sounds like that Shiva group deliberately planned it. Nobody queues for Shiva with 7 people, goes on Discord and says "hey let's cleave this ONE guy, make sure you don't cleave anybody else". Shiva, one of the most random MSQ trials you can queue for, with a 3 minute cutscene at the start.
I can almost guarantee you what happened is tank spun the boss, because whatever it's a storymode, person gets clipped, and people emote because it's Shiva, and people always emote in Shiva (Diamond Dust remember). The cutscene is longer than the fight itself, so of course they weren't getting a raise.
Especially Shiva. Cleaves happen almost every time in there. In my opinion, it's more rare someone actually dies to it.

I've only done Shiva a few times when it comes up for trial roulette, but Diamond Dust is the bit in the middle before the music shift for the second half of the fight, isn't it? Neoyoshi is talking about the end of the fight (specifically mentioning the boss dying). What does the length of a cutscene, or random emotes at the middle stage of the fight, have anything to do with their actions at the end?I can almost guarantee you what happened is tank spun the boss, because whatever it's a storymode, person gets clipped, and people emote because it's Shiva, and people always emote in Shiva (Diamond Dust remember). Because they're just emotes.I've only done Shiva a few times when it comes up for trial roulette, but Diamond Dust is the bit in the middle before the music shift for the second half of the fight, isn't it? Had a run of The Aery where an AST refuse to use cards because they claimed healing was too hard despite only casting every 20-30 seconds and refusing to heal completely if the tank pulled 2 groups of mobs..
And is verbal harrassment from the tank (as Neoyoshi said happened) likewise "just words"? People can harrass through their actions as well as speech.
Granted, we weren't there, and it's possible that actions were misconstrued. (Say, someone intending to 'congratulate the new player for finishing' could come across as a sarcastic 'congratulations for dying'.) But the party gathering around one player and emoting at them sounds like something deliberate - especially if they're laughing, or pulling faces, or being dismissive.
Maybe you think it's no big deal to do something like that, but you can't just expect the other person to take it that way.
Also, reading through this topic has unfortunately left me with little doubt that there *are* people who are unpleasant enough to get a group together for trials roulette and do this deliberately to amuse themselves.
Luin the problem wasnt the cleave. That might or might not have been an accident. OP here was a monk, maybe he drifted a little too far forward and the tank went a little too close to that side before the move. Or maybe he knew they were gonna win and tried to cleave all his friends at the end but they know he does stuff like that and got out of the way. Regardless its really no big deal - we've all died in story missions. OP didnt care. He was a bit put off by not getting a res, but the fight was over and this isnt an issue either. Everyone gathering together and emoting at the guy certainly sounds jerk-ish, but we dont have the full context and im willing to let that slide(though it certainly raises my suspicions). When he said the tank went on to "shame and harass" him for dying? THAT is against the rules. There is where the issue is. If you cut out that part, its just a weird story of a DF group. This thread has 1600+ pages of those. Add in verbal harassment, and it crosses the line. Anyone who does this in a group should be reported, especially if the target is someone new/returning. If this was a misunderstanding(tank tried to explain something returnee messed up and he took it as an attack) then any GM looking at the chat log will see that and no actual punishment will be handed out. And if Neoyoshis account is more or less right and it was harassment then the guy deserves whatever punishment he gets. The day an MMO is no longer able to accept new and returning players is the day it dies. It can be a slow death, but it is an inevitable one.
