I would probably stop asking for less robes if I could wear DoW gear as healer/caster. Also, if they really cared about players being able to tell who's on what job at a glance, level 1 unrestricted glamour and hiding weapons wouldn't exist.

Keep the relic/artifact looks locked, but unlock everything else. The restrictions are pointless.

This isn't really about letting people who play tanks wear DoM gear, it's about letting them glamour their favourite pointy wizard hat onto their tank if they want to. Think of it as you can't equip it, but you can make it look like you did.

Also, "everyone will do a stupid thing if you let them" is a pretty terrible argument in general. But to play along... if anything tanks would wear DoW gear as much as possible since DPS is the most important factor in fights after mechanics. There's a reason SE stopped tanks from equipping DPS accessories (and it's not a good one IMO).

Doesn't have to be that way though. Plenty of games have glamour systems that let you glamour any class restricted gear over your own without allowing you to gain the stat boosts. Lotro had that exact system for a lot of it's gear actually and it worked out just fine. Individual classes still had their own gear with their own stats, but a Lore Master could make their robes /look/ like heavy armor if they so desired.

It's probably well within the restrictions of the spaghetti code, unlike defaulting to SWTOR's system which was fun but holy hell it could be annoying.

I know what you mean OP. For the JSE liek the relic gear, that is fine to be job locked, but things like the Amon hat, why cant that be for other jobs too? I want that hat so bad for my RDM and its not like its a specifically archer looking hat or anything. Dont need them to do away with it entirely but give us a little bit of leeway when you have these amazing generic designs.

On the flip side, i kinda wish there was MORE gear that is for a specific Job. I remember the 2.0 PvP gear was per job not per role so each job had unique equipment. Now its homoginized GLD, WAR, DRK share gear RDM, BLM, SMN share gear and so on.

On the opposite end of that spectrum, I would appreciate some WHM relic pants that are NOT frilly underwear or a miniskirt. Give us something different next time and the people who want their skimpy gear can mix and match with the older sets.

The thing with the "everyone will do a stupid thing if you let them" argument is that people are already doing 'stupid things' with the glamour system. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people going into raids with bunny suits and moogle attire and whatever. I honestly got and was for the current system of locking gear to jobs but so much joke gear has been put out that the point of the system is already broken. Honestly, I figure having a tank fight in all mage attire would be less immersion breaking than a tank fighting in a swimsuit. I'm at the point where I just don't care anymore so just let people do what they want.

You realize they are talking Glamour's, and even if they were not, I doubt any healer would wear a tank set since the tank set wouldn't help them heal.

While true, WHM lingerie is typically covered up by the robe. They did better with WHM AF3, but it is still a robe. SCH in particular has been robed to the nines. By next expansion, they will look like pillows with glasses. I am not necessarily saying to sexualize the jobs, but get them out of the robes. I would love to see SCH take on a more modern militaristic attire, and WHM to go full on tree hugging hippie. I am still up in the air with AST as the job is still new to me. But I do like the gypsy trend to it.

I don't think a lot of players care about that when all they do is wear pants the same colour as their skin to look naked, or just wear maid outfits as tanks. They already throw the 'look like your job' thing out the window and seem to be enjoying it (even if people that have to look at them aren't).
