2.0 New Era? New Dimension? Time Disturbance Backward? Fast Forwarded X Millenia?

It remains to be fully seen, but I just wanted to speculate on the direction 2.0 should go or is going.

The current storyline lends itself to any of the above time scenarios.

It would be most fascinating if the Garlean Empire was actually a side arm of the Shinra Corporation. Can you imagine the possibilities??? The game already leans toward Final Fantasy 3/6 and 7.

The mech/machine technology vs magic/fantasy...materia...magicite....

The opening of access into the Garlean Empire...could reveal Kefka as the power behind the mechanical surge...

Pure areas and dungeons of deep fantasy contrasted by dungeons of mech and machinery. Primals...Eikons...Eidolons whatever they decide to call these mythical beasts of ole could guard or be enslaved in such areas.

Garlean strongholds of mechs powered by an enslaved summon creature used as batteries to power each of the Empire strongholds. You go save them from a stronghold you get access to their powers.

Hunting down ancient fantasy weapons to combat futuristic machinery...the struggle of the old ways vs the new ways. The fight to keep the adventuring ways and the closeness to the land vs the destruction of the path of industry.

I also expect the Garlean Empire to have advanced technology, but that's about as much as our ideas have in common x)
Also, I want FFXIV to be a game which can stand alone, no Kefka, Cloud or whatever should appear.

I'm still afraid of Thunder, the son of Cloud and Lightning who will be the main character of FFXX...

My main point really is that the Final Fantasy franchise has a rich history and lore to draw from. Yoshida already mentioned he will be drawing from Final Fantasy history.

Totally am excited to see the Crystal Tower appear in game. Why not add in the Great Mana Tree from Secret of Mana as well...Can you imagine the awesomeness of climbing the Mana Tree and weaving through it's crooks and crannies to rise to the top to meet Dodo Cho...the last great Fat Chocobo...okay that's also a lil carried away.

I wish they did take some roots of Final Fantasy old...protecting the elemental crystals...fighting the elementals gone out of control....So many rich stories to expand from. I hope this current chapter of FF14 closes well and I hope 2.0 has an epic storyline worth remembering for ages to come.

We also need a memorable theme to hum...Like the infamous FF7 Aerith theme...

You obviously haven't played the classic Final Fantasy games...also you should really look at Final Fantasy Type-0. It is the closest thing to Epic Final Fantasy and where it's direction of the Franchise should have gone.

I just hope SE is wise and makes it a PS3 HD port and re-release to the world as a PS3 game instead of a PSP or PS Vita game. That would really be a shame for a game sooooo amazingly awesome.

Btw, again I don't agree with any of this.
No Mana Tree.
FFXIV has it's own lore and that's how I want it to be.
Yoshi never said he's going to draw lore from other games, he's just using the FF aspects that have to be present in every game, like chocobos, Ifrit, etc.
Oh, and game mechanisms too, like the tower and jobs.
But nothing of this got to do with lore, whereas your ideas of Shinra and the Great Mana Tree do.
