"Oh dear." - unknown guy at the end of the "Under the Moonlight" trailer.
I mean the core concept of 4.0 in my opinion is:
- no more pvp gear / fix stats
- full-on pvp equivalents of skills allowing for easier coding
Which is perfectly fine, that bit is good.
The fact it only has like what, 8-9 skills and a depth as shallow as Lolorito's tiny shoes is what is numbing. If you have generally this little for each job it is difficult to balance it since a tiny tip in the wrong direction can have massive impact.
Every class could easily use a rework of their kits, 3-4 more skills and making "problem skills" (Cover what I mostly heard) on a high cooldown, using other skills as substitutes (intervention as short-CD for cover) and generally spicing up each job a bit.
Getting only potency adjustments, HP adjustments, trait adjustments etc. without changing anything in the core design of abilities is a problem.
Street Fighter II. A game with enough depth and balance for a higher skilled player to defeat a lower skilled player 100% of the time, regardless of what character was used. The game was also easy to learn and understand by the average player. One of the best selling PvP games of all time.
Feast. A game with little depth and lack of balance between the classes. The ability of a higher skilled player to defeat a lower skilled player depends on the carry potential of the classes used including what skills/abilities are available (8-9 buttons... lol hahahaha), i.e. a higher skilled DPS most likely will NOT defeat a lower skilled healer solo. This game is NOT easy to learn and understand, and it requires looking at non-official material to inform players of how to properly play the game. Therefore, atm only veterans know how to properly play PvP.
Feast (Con't). High healing bursts and the medal system (which punishes the better performing team) are largely unfamiliar to the NA/EU player base. The only game that should have the "punish-for-winning" mechanic should be Mario Kart! Last place driver in Mario Kart gets the Blue Turtle Shell, while the 1st place driver gets a banana peel! It's fun because it's funny! XD But in Feast, you get too many medals, your teammates get pissed... then you die because of it... and now you get pissed... because it all happened in ranked solo queue. LOL
Therefore, I suggest to add balance and depth (16+ buttons maybe?). Then... design a Blue Turtle Shell for the losing team, and make sure it's funny. XD

I still cant understand why there is no rankdecline when people are inactive. By now SE should know that this is one Reason that the Feast is dead after a few Weeks.

Feast needs a massive rework. I feel like they should be reworking how rewards and participation works. Currently if you aren't doing PVP constantly within the two weeks or so you have almost 0 chance of actually making the top 100. After about two weeks the Feast almost completely dies except for maybe a hour or so at night but other than that your looking at nearly 30+ min for matches making it damn near impossible to catch up and most just don't bother and that is where Feast suffers.
I feel like they need to take a page from the Garo event and I feel like they should have requirements like win so many matches of whatever to earn the new Feast mounts because let's be real that's what everyone wants and let the hardcore folks who wanna fight for the top 10 or so a trophy or something unique for their houses or a rare piece of gear. When the Garo event happened it brought PVP back from the dead and for a few months PVP was easy to get into and the wait times were really good and I think that if you give people an incentive that's actually obtainable I feel like PVP would pick back up and you could have people interested in each Feast season with increased participation imo.
If SE released an event similar to Garo, but it was a Chrono Trigger event that rewards glowing weapons based on those you can find in the original game (ex: Chrono's Rainbow Sword for SAM, Lucca's gun for MCH, Marle's crossbow for BRD, Robo's fist for MNK, etc... but requires 1000 kills in Feast EACH to obtain) and a rare mount (Wings of Time via 300 wins in Feast), would you queue Feast? XD It's really a hefty price to pay for exclusive rewards, but I mean... I think people would queue for these for quite some time.
Wait... I'm not suggesting this. T.T Or maybe I am. XD
I already like the feast, with that I would queue Nonstop, haha

I used to be in a thriving PvP linkshell, in which there would be at least 10 people online every day. Now I have been the only one in it for months, since they changed pvp. Pretty depressing.
