Is there a home in FXIV for the "Hardcore Endgame" Player-Type?

    Hello Everyone!

As of level 47 I feel like little more then a glorified Errand-Boy. My only remaining hope is with the potential "endgame".

I tried to get into the story, but 80% of the characters act/behave like they belong in some high school anime. I skip everything now because of this, which thank god I can because so far:

    Formula for 80% of Quests:
    1. 10 Minutes of talking about quest
    2. Go here and double click this guy.
    3. Quest completed.

    The other 20% of Quests:
    1. 10 Minutes of talking about quest
    2. Go here and double click this guy.
    3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2, 2-3 more times.
    4. Quest Completed.

I was already suspicious at the beginning of the game, but I knew in my 30's when they had my player fetching components for wine -- that most certainly my time was deliberately being wasted.

So, is there a home here for the Hardcore Endgame player-type? Or does this game mostly cater to the Casual Player?

Early game pre lvl 50 is leveling. So your not at end game. The game has alot of casual content. However it also has content for extreme players.

Once you get to end game its completely different from what your doing now

Endgame isn't until level 70 and at the end of the latest MSQ for Stormblood and really, it's not all that special as people make you believe it to be in my opinion as someone already on endgame.

It's just another day logging into the game and doing dailies, farming, roulettes, etc.

That's more or less what I'm curious about...

Leveling is Leveling. Traditionally this isn't my preferred style (linear-arcade), but I'm perfectly willing to endure if the leveling process isn't a reflection of what the endgame looks like.

Are you asking about end game hubs? Yeah there are a few but you can't get to any of them yet since they are locked behind msq.

    Hey, welcome to FF.

ARR is notorious for those types of quests and does not reflect the next two expansions. What you’re experiencing is a common criticism of the base story and I understand what a struggle it is. However, it isn’t reflective of the game as a whole. Once you get to level 50, you will unlock trials and raids, as well as harder dungeons. Of course, the real hard core stuff is at the end of the game, once you beat stormblood, and there’s a healthy community that focuses on savage and high end raiding.

Basically, once you get to HW, all those stupid errands will get left behind.

Is it though? I seem to recall just going to find a bottle of wine for someone else...

Jokes aside, yes, it does open up more once you reach endgame. Keep in mind you have to pass 2 previous endgames (lv50 ARR end game, lv60 HW endgame) before you get to the current lv70 SB end game.. So it may feel like long wait since the previous ones aren't relevant anymore. But it looks like you're leveling up a tank so it shouldn't take too long to breeze through everything Just hang in there, it'll get better

Thank you! That's essentially all the answer I was looking for.

Thank you for easing my concerns

It's worth noting that Square does sell a main story advancement potion and character levelling potion. These 2 potions combined will advance you to lvl 60 and also advance the storyline to the beginning of the main story quest for Stormblood. This will effectively bypass several hours (likely 30+) of quest grinding and get you a lot closer to the end game if that is what you are after. You will have to pay for these, and they aren't particularly cheap, but having played the game since 2.0, I think I would definitely buy them if I had to do it all over again. The MSQ in this game is really, REALLY terrible prior to Heavensward, and then significantly below average even after that.

You’re welcome! I only beat FF14 last summer, so remember doing some of those quests only too well. Hang in there.

I’m going to quietly step in and suggest that you don’t skip past HW. It has the best storyline of the three games and, in my opinion, the best characters. Certainly you’ll get to end game faster but I don’t think it’s worth missing. There’s some pretty tough dungeons in HW too, along with one of the hardest normal mode primals. The content is good.

That being said... skipping past ARR is an option if you’re suffering (and like Tex, I did that for my second play-through so I could enjoy HW), but it is expensive. Something like 25 dollars.
