Viera as the next new race~ Show your support

I need Viera to be tol ladies, pls. Taller than their male counterparts, at least for one clan.

I would also be okay with the Viera women being taller than the male Viera

But they absolutely need to be the masculine versions (which I think would add to the awesome of the males being shorter than their amazonian female counterparts). I really like the fact that rabbits are thought as gentle, fluffy prey-like critters, but Viera are totally BA warriors.


I would totally be okay if they had like... two clans of Viera (even though I'm pretty sure white haired Viera & dark haired Viera are two separate clans in FF12) where one is adult and powerful looking, etc. (as shown in the first post's example), with the second clan being lalaesque. Both of best worlds, yenno? For people who want to play adult, cool looking viera, they can. If they want to play childlike fluffy viera they can. Although, that is asking a LOT so, can we just have the ff12 versions, plz?/bats lashes


I really don't feel comfortable playing kid-like models, so I really hope they don't go for the cute version if it's just one version. I don't even like how they look (and, personally, I just love Viera cuz I fell in love with Fran when I was a little girl. XD I just want the Viera I've always known and loved.)

Think I stated this earlier in here, female rabbits are a bit bigger than male rabbits. That is all.

My main issue with Viera is that they're just not unique in design and it doesn't help we got Au Ra first (even less so after seeing the concept art). Humans with animal parts. So fascinating.

I'll give them a pass if SE can release them with their 'beast feet,' as that could mean SE might be able to make beastmen races playable someday, but if they can't do that, then I'll hate them as much as I hate the Au Ra :T

I never understood why unique always has to mean crazy different. You can have a 'human with animalparts' and still have it be unique relative to the other races through their lore, build, and mannerisms without also giving them weird feet, snouts or wings made of goldfishscales or something. At least thats how I see it.
But I guess uniquenness, like many things, is in the eye of the beholder. *shrug*

(As for the Beastman as playable races, while I see why some people may want that I personally don't think thats ever gonna happen. Not because of technical reasons, but simply because the games lore and Story are not set up for that possibility. And I don't see SE wanting to fiddle around with that)

I know they'll likely do so anyway, but can we maybe not suggest SE to take the easy way out again? I'd really like them to go all out for once and put the work in by giving us both versions they've shown us.

Actually there were 3 Subtribes of Viera. The Veena (light, mostly white-silver hair), the Rava (darker hair, though they never specified whether the colour is natural or not) and later on they introduced the Feol (shorter stature and ears, usually blond hair). Sounds familiar, doesn' it? Tall amazonesses and a shorter, more childish variation?
I also don't think its asking a lot of SE to do both. More like asking them to do their jobs and make use of the concepts they introduced. If they wanna keep the Subraces they may as well actually make them different rather then simply making them paletteswaps and writing two descriptions and then calling it a day.
I mean, the whole Subrace-thing is wasted as is; just look at Elezen: So the supposedly cave-dwelling Duskwights, for some reason, are still as just as tall as their Wildwood brethren, rather then being, dunno, shorter and more stocky(?not sure this is the right word?), like you'd expect a cavedweller to look like usually. Think FFX's Guado for reference. But no; pallette swap... I'd like to avoid that for the Viera.

As for the beastman lore argument, Lupin are probably exceptions to the rule. They're considered citizens in Doma and Garleans do not kill them on sight (whereas they planned to kill the Zundu if we didn't intervene) and even have/had them in their army. One was even allowed into Gridania (sure it was a seasonal event, but they have lore in the world as well).

I can respect that. As said, I can see why people would like bestial races; and if this was a different game I'd probably support the Idea myself, but being the realist I am I just don't see it happening.
(I can also understand the 'only liking one race' thing; I've been through all of them at this point, and Lalafell off all things turns out to be the only race I don't have some sort of gripe with, lol. In fact, I guess the short-ish Viera would likely be another thing I'd like)

Lupin are an odd case, while they are totally fine in Othard I'm not quite convinced they'd be as welcome in Eorzea, at least not without some serious prejudice. And with Eorzea being the place the game starts at...
The Lupin during the Halloween event was interesting too, but, while seasonal events are canonical, I'm not sure the stories told through them are. Not to mention that particular Lupin was only allowed because people thought he was some guy in a costume, or at least thats how I remember it.

i can definitely get behind the idea of viera being tall (as they rightfully should be!) however, i'm not sold on the idea of male viera being short. i'm not a fan of what they did to au ra and knowing how female au ra turned out, i can't imagine male viera falling into the "frail and dainty" category. i would be utterly heartbroken if they gimped on male viera (or viera as a whole) to try to be clever with differences in sex.

if anyone is interested tho, artist lelia has some wonderful art of male viera and viera in general.

Short does not = frail and dainty. Miqo'te males are on the shorter side as well, and while not as muscular as Highlander Hyurs, they are by no means frail or dainty. (Granted, I would like to see Viera men more masculine/muscular than Miqo'te as well. Or at least, one clan of them being muscular.)

I affection you. /Sparkles~/ I agree with the last point as well. I've noticed that the different clans don't really come into play/story so much, either. It's usually more racial orientated (conflict) than clan orientated.
