Every MMO I've played has it's quirks that are in imo better or worse than others in the genre, may favorite MMO though till I came to XIV was DAoC.

I loved DAoC for many reasons such as it's customizable skill point distribution, horizontal progression, thousands upon thousands of options for building a gear set, character creator, massive scale raids (100+ people), plot based housing for up to 27k players per server, houses of any size being able to be built on any plot, and everything being open world with only a handful of encounters being instanced. One of my favorite things though, was that the devs were not afraid to devote entire patches to going back to making old content relevant and breathe new life into it, they even dedicated an entire mini-expansion to make housing and made it free to all players.

At the same time though, it lacked a glamour system, mail system, crafting was pure rng with no skills, to be competitive while solo you had to have a second account for a "buff bot", and in the end PvP was the main focus of the game, even though I was on a PvE server.
