Speaking of tank shenanigans...if you're a tank in a raid where's there more tanks than you and you see one them pull the boss...try to let the MT do his job as well as not fight for aggro and get your DPS stance on please.

Fighting for aggro with another tank when I pulled the boss first is something I would not have to deal with.

As a clueless tank, I wasn't aware of the whole provoke>shirk till somebody told me recently, I found myself stealing aggro in my offence stance, P.s can I even use Shirk on an alliance tank in a different party?

Shirk only works on party members, it doesn't work in Alliance Raids unless there's 2 tanks in a single group within the Alliance.

Closest thing to enmity control aside from DPS utilizing their enmity dumps, would be a Ninja that actually shadewalkers. Which, I mean, probably won't ever happen in a DF group for anything.

tank aggro in raids

Take a guess at what happened in my Alliance Raid roulette. Got Void Ark. I was in A with the MT for the whole raid (DRK). PLD in B tried three times to 'voke off him until our DRK got tired and asked him to just put Sword Oath on in Cú Chulainn and it.. devolved into this. C's tank was also a DRK who was sorta mocking said PLD in a joke encouragement kinda way - B's PLD locked himself out at Echidna deliberately and C's Drk said they'd provoke+shirk him but obs shirk doesn't work on other alliances.

Fun quick run though. I got tired of VA quickly, would rather have done DS/WCoM but the chat was honestly just hilarious. Dark blue is DRK MT, light blue is PLD, Green is the other DRK and red is random DPS/healers in the raid.

Tank shenanigans aside, I thought I read somewhere at one point that on the JP servers, they always have Alliance B's tank as the MT. Not that it in anyway excuses this particular tank's behavior, but just saying that I had heard of something to that effect before. Whether or not it's true, I can't say.

I had a sad and a happy encounter today.

First I was doing expert with my main (NIN). We got Hell's Lid. The tank (PLD) was like 20 ilvl below me, but that's fine and still more than enough.
We got to the first boss, and about half a minute into the fight I draw boss aggro. But Shadewalker was still on cooldown, as i used it before on the big trash grp, so the aggro jumped to the tank again for like 2 seconds and then back to me for the next 10 seconds. As Shadwalker went off cooldown, I used it on the tank immediately and he got aggro back. About 15 seconds after shade went off I got aggro again. Only then I noticed that the PLD was in Sword Oath all the time. Maybe he didn't notice that so I wrote it in the chat during the fight. This was the chat:

(Zoe Quintel) shade is on CD all the time dude
(Zoe Quintel) i cant smoke myself
(PLD) u sld manage both our agro ur a nin
(PLD) that ur primary job

At this point I didn't know what to say, and thought to myself "what is the primary job of a Tank again?" and just left. I could have stopped dpsing the boss at all, so the tank could get some more dps in Sword Oath... but that didn't seem right and I was not in the mood to argue with him over this. Tanks do know that Shadewalker has a 2 min CD?

After that there was a nice experience, even if it started badly ^^. Did Trials Roulette and got Lakshmi normal mode. No one was bonus so it looked like an easy kill. But dps and healer(s) died many times (f.e. healers ran back on the stack mechanic and only stack with two, or dps overlapping the aoes) and we wiped a total of five(!) times! After a short explanation of the basic mechanics we killed her on the 6th try.
Even with the bad start it was still fun, no one was mad at each other in the chat, and the best part was that no one left the party during all these tries! Everyone stayed to the end. That made me happy again ^^

Ran leveling roulette on paladin today. Got Sirensong, and the healer was a scholar who stated right at the beginning that they might suck because they were re-learning the job. But they did great! I took so long typing that out at the end of the run that I didn't get time to commend them before they left. So if you are that scholar, I was going to commend you!

Ran Stone Vigil for the first time today. Was Tank. Told party after 1st boss that I needed to go afk for a minute, as my sons nose was bleeding. I expected to return and find everyone had run off or I had been kicked from the party. Instead, everyone was waiting and when I said I was back, they asked if he was ok and expressed their sympathy for him. They don't know me or him, yet they were empathetic and we carried on with a successful dungeon.

I'm starting to love this community.

Yeah Alliance Bs tank is default the MT on JP servers. Poor form on their part tho, never understood why people have to bicker about who gets to be MT lol

VA shenans

I needed that laugh after queuing into Rabby for my Alliance Roulette.

Don't get me wrong, I actually enjoy that place (and DS). They're at least not a snoozefest, but sometimes boring isn't bad. Today boring would've been better. We wiped 3 times on Mateus - mostly because of our tank. He just refused to do much of anything, so when our snake add came up it was murdering everyone. My first mistake on RDM was shedding aggro when I got the add the first time; I should've kept it and just tanked it, our healers were on point and could've kept me alive. But instinct told me to shake the snake off, so I did and 30s we're all dead.

Rinse and repeat. We tried LB3ing the adds twice, but both times it just didn't fire off fast enough on the two adds that were tethered. Honestly, I'm not even sure how much damage they would've sustained since they were tethered but it was worth a shot.

I left after the 3rd wipe, most of us did.
