Last night, queued up for MSQ Roulette, already a red flag. Got Castrum. Simple enough, right? WRONG.

Everything went smoothly up until the assault ship went down.

Apparently, our Paladin tank decided to slip in through the boss door immediately before hand, and somehow managed to get EVERYONE locked out except for him.

Sweet justice was had however, as immediately before we pulled (with everyone else inside of course), we kicked him. That's what you get for wasting everyone's time and effort.

Got Lost city of Amdapor for 50/60 roulette. I personally find the Diabolos fight can always go either really smoothly or really bad. The DRG was silent the whole run, the BLM had a fun little quote of 777777777777777 (because of their dog) and WHM was mostly silent but before Diabolos fight mentioned they hadn't run it much and it had always been bad. I asked if anyone had NOT done it before since I got the new player message and the DRG/BLM both were watching cutscenes at the beginning. No response. I had asked WHM if they minded marking doors at the beginning but since they had apparently always had bad runs I said I'd do it if they helped open the doors.

I know you can just heal through the damage, but I'm the type of person who rather make things less stressful for my healers since I heal more than tank and I know how annoying it can be to heal through completely avoidable damage. Plus - they said they'd always had bad runs so honestly at that point I just wanted to show how easily that fight can go. I'm glad I was able to hopefully give them a good experience!
Also as I was leaving I jokingly suggested what Dun Scaith would be like if you actually had to open matching doors in the Diabolos fight instead of just DPS'ing them squeenix don't take this seriously

I got Temple Of The Fist for my Level 70 Roulette and was tanking with Warrior.

We had a Black Mage, a Dragoon and a White Mage.

None of the dps used any AOE on the mobs and I pulled big - they took aaaaaggess to die and had to use every cooldown I could find to stay alive.

The dps also died regularly because they kept being killed by avoidable stuff.

When we got to the bosses I noticed them taking abnormally long to die, so not sure what was going on there.

Was glad to finish that one.

It depends on which healer you have. A scholar makes it easy for everyone, as Succor will take care of the brunt of the dmg. But I prefer if people learned the tactics. While many experienced Tanks will say "nevermind the mechanics, just burn him down", and I don't mind it, many people are still new and or coming into the franchise, then there's the fact that a lot of dps in the game don't even know their rotation. I prefer to tell them the mechanics either way.

Got Snowcloak for 50/60 roulette, and our tank kept limit breaking during large pulls. I don't think he was trolling, which is rather unfortunate, considering if he does this in future dungeons, he'll be severely reprimanded by his party members. I tried to explain the usage of a tank LB, but there was an obvious language barrier, and he didn't seem understand me at all. I feel like there should be a more in-depth limit break explanation/tutorial for sprouts. Almost every time I've seen a limit break used incorrectly, it's by a new player, and that new player usually ends up learning the most efficient way to LB via being yelled at or verbally abused by other party members.

It would definitely be nice if there was a way to incorporate limit breaks into Hall of the Novice somehow. I doubt they ever will at this point, though.

I've actually been seeing this happen fairly often over the last week or two. Had a tank who used the LB two times at Amdapor Keep HM, once during trash pulls and once on the final boss (never did a large pull either, and the boss one was during the boss's invincible mechanic) so I asked why they kept using it. The answer? They had the LB as a part of their macro. The main difference I've been seeing with my tanks using it and yours, is that the tanks I'm with aren't necessarily new. Some of them have one or two classes at level 70. Absolutely mind boggling.

Every other tank I see LBing when not needed doesn't answer me though, so I'm not sure what's up with them.

When I tank I never use the LB unless the group asks me to. I prefer to leave it for the DPS or Healer to use as needed.

I never use LB as a tank. When I started leveling DPS it took me a really long time to rediscover the button and put it in a hotbar. XD

I've seen so many bizarre and questionable things in DF lately that a tank using LB wouldn't be that bad if that's all that happened.

I think right now, we might be in the time period in the patch where the majority of players in DF are brand new and/or the ultra-casual kind of people.

Nearly every single dungeon I've ran lately has had a bonus in it, and it's usually the tank. I'm not sure what the draw is for brand new people to pick tank more than anything else. On top of that they are always completely clueless, do baby pulls, never use cooldowns at all, and sort of wander around instead of moving ahead of the group to pull more enemies. Even some of the "experienced" players do strange things. I had a warrior in one expert run who only used Anticipation and no other defensive cooldowns.

Worst of all, all of these new players, regardless of role, seem to be completely mute and disregard anything said in chat. I'm fairly certain most of them are English-speakers. If you try to give any advice or ask them to do something differently, you might as well be talking to a wall.
