This is true also, and let's be fair here, we all know that people are buying it for glamour ideas and not because it comes with an EXP bonus.not to mention that occupying all 5 armor slots with glamour level armor values and no stats at all aside from the +5 mind is going to slow you down more than the 30% would speed you up.
brand new ring and ala mhigan earring give plenty of exp boosting already imo and have decent stat bonuses
This is a false equivalent fallacy.Stating it's optional so it's fine is defeating the whole point of things being reasonable. If they did something like requiring you to pay an extra $10 a month sub to do savage, would that be fine? Savage is completely optional after all, and the gear isn't needed to do any content in the game. What about locking crafters with a $5 to unlock each crafter? YOU don't have to, because someone else can, so for you it's completely optional.
I know comparing game functions to gear sounds stupid, but I'm trying to keep FFXIV comparisons with FFXIV comparisons here. Just because it is optional, doesn't mean anything can be done to it and it's fine. And it's not like I've denied they are optional. Anyone could have seen they are optional. Nowhere, anywhere, did I make a statement that they are not optional items. I didn't state these items would keep me out of a raid, or allow me to perform better than someone else.
You cannot compare a dress to gameplay because only one inherently prevents you from actually playing the game or progressing forward. Savage may be optional, however putting it behind a paywall abruptly halts the entire game. But you don't do Savage, thus it wouldn't hinder your gameplay, you say. Okay. Let's take this to its logical extreme. Everything is technically optional: Dungeons, 24 mans, Savage, Ultimate, Crafting, Gathering, PotD and etc. Therefore, they too, would be effected by such a paid restriction. Now does it effect your gameplay? The Angelic/Demonic outfits, meanwhile, change literal nothing about how the game plays or functions beyond your appearance. Hence why people put far less stock in the occasional cosmetic going onto a cash shop. And it isn't as though we get ugly alternatives like say, Black Desert.

This is a very bad argument and a very bad comparison to make. You’re talking about how everything is “optional”, but this argument is just debating the semantics of the word. You're right, nobody's making me buy it. Nobody's making me do anything. Technically speaking I don't have to heal on a healer, that's just optimizing. Most content you don't need a healer anyways. You don't need my dps on a BLM, I can just stand there. Doesn't make it impossible, just slower, but that's just an optional thing, right?
Buying or not buying an outfit from the cash shop gives you no advantage over other players; it does not impact gameplay in even the slightest other than you have a different piece of level 1 gear that you paid for. (I’m still laughing at those claiming the EXP boosts are P2W—are you going to be wearing your level 1 glamour gear in Haukke Manor for that EXP boost? Because good luck getting away with that! People don’t even buy the outfits for the EXP bonus—they do it for glamour!) Not healing your team as a healer, or not DPSing as a DPS does impact the gameplay, be it by causing a wipe because you aren’t healing or by meeting enrage in high-end content because you want to be an Ice Mage.
They are not the same thing. Debating the “optionalness” of it is just you trying to argue semantics, and failing.
See above. Also look up on how effective hyperbole are to making solid arguments—I’ll tell you now, they aren’t. If you want people to listen to you, don’t exaggerate. It just makes it even more to dismiss what you’re trying to say.Stating it's optional so it's fine is defeating the whole point of things being reasonable. I was listening to your post until you started with comments like these. Sorry, but I don’t listen to people who toss in backhanded remarks to try and further their arguments. Why don’t you just refer to these individuals as just “people”, then get back to me.
If there is anything that will be quick to turn people off of arguments, it’s throwing names like “whales”, “apologists”, and “fanboys” around. As well as statements with no statistical evidence trying to be construed as fact (which your post also contained).

I do that, I will take any additional experience being I find the leveling experience in this game to be atrocious, I will take whatever bonus I can get.I’m still laughing at those claiming the EXP boosts are P2W—are you going to be wearing your level 1 glamour gear in Haukke Manor for that EXP boost? So, the game has always been P2W because CE or Digital deluxe had exp boost items?
For my extremes, I didn't say the newest savage. I probably should have just specified older raids because that would just be for glam's. And for the dps part, only savage has enrages that're worth noticing. But sure, let me only use the outfits example here, so I'm not going crazy. This is a very bad argument and a very bad comparison to make. You’re talking about how everything is “optional”, but this argument is just debating the semantics of the word.

Nezha set has a pair of leggings I like on my Lalafell, and they go super well with my adventuring sweater. $18 for that though, and only for my Lalafell, is insanely high. I want to toy with the appearance I can make with different sets in order to be unique and stand out, as I'm sure most would be. But while I don't enjoy the jacket on my Lalafell, and can't find a set for Lalafell I do like it on, I do like it on my Au Ra, and would wear it on him. But now that's $36, and I'm still not using the full set.
So why not just, at least, make them account wide? In this scenario, I spend $18, and I get an glam setup I enjoy on two characters. Maybe I'd even find one on a third, and it's boosting my chances of paying for it. A lot of my friends like pieces of these sets that come out too, but for those parts, it's not worth $18 on one character for them.
Account wide effect works too in boosting sales. Reminder, the first mount on the mog station used to be single character, for the same $24 price. During a mog station sale, they chose to make it account wide for a bit, and the sales went up so much they chose to keep it and repeat the practice. Don't you think it'd be beneficial to do the same to glamour?
Also side note, I actually do Savage. Most of the playerbase doesn't, and it's why I was using an example of walling that with money, because that wouldn't effect most of the playerbase.
you do realize that when you do this you are basically slowing the whole group down because you don't actually have any stats on your gear.
Which means you are taking longer to get that 30% bonus than if you just ran the same instance twice with normal gear.
The only item I found worth using the exp bonus for was the Ala Mhigan Earrings because they give a 30% bonus to 50 and below AND only take up the earring slot.
The only time you should be wearing the glamour outfits for the 30% bonus is pre level 10, quest turn ins, and level turn ins. And even then it only lasts until level 30 on the outfits.
You're right. Laughable may not have been the right word to use there. I just find all the gripes about paying $18 for a pair of wings is not that big of a deal. Especially coming from a game that truly does nickel and dime you on just about everything.Eh, I come from SWTOR as well but I don't think the concerns here are laughable. Just because SE hasn't shown EA's legendary levels of greed and lack of care for their fanbase, it doesn't mean people can't be concerned or feel they're being nickle and dimed. Though I will admit that I very much do not miss being a part of EA's years long tantrum over being forced to turn SWTOR F2P and the resulting freemium economy.
As an aside, there are legitimate issues in this game. I just don't think this is one of them.
This would be true if it took me twice as long to clear the dungeon, which it does not. Sure the bonus is minimal but end of the day the run is still completed in less time then my queue so it works out for me. Also have yet to be removed from a group for wearing statless gear and when someone has brought it up majority of the group defend my actions. Early game leveling is especially annoying for me so any bonus to speed that up is welcomed for me. Now I would consider changing my view if a run took twice as long to complete but that is not the case as of yet.
