The virtual currency "Moogle Coins" in the FFXIV Companion app must be removed

If there's something SE has strived for, it's to keep every player equally able to access all content in the game. They might not be particularly fast at it, but classes are constantly being balanced and it's really only a player-made issue to exclude one. We've yet to see any type of status buff end up in the Mod Station, where we all know it'd happen first.

None of those "premium" features are even worth the money to me. And if they are to someone else, well then I'll let them make an informed decision on how to spend their money. It's not mine, after all.

If more ressources & efforts were spent on actual game content & gameplay (in game*) You/we could/would have a better game.

This is how I feel. Using the Moogle Coins for the MB is going to affect crafters and gatherers the most, but those are fairly niche interests. It will affect me and I don't like the change but what worries me most is these future uses they have hinted at (something they have surely researched and already started planning for).

I understand why people looking at the present situation might think 'wait and see' is the most sensible approach, however I don't think waiting until more micro-transactions are actually in the game is in our interests, once they are in, I don't see them ever taking them out.

100% I bet they are talking about including mundane actions like watering your plants, activating your Adventure Squad or feeding your Chocobo.

What service in FFXIV do you think the coins can be used for in pay to win? Do you think they will jump to something like "for 10,000 coins buy this ilvl 500 set!"

I am sure those examples are planned.

In-game those actions involve me moving my character to a particular location, so I have to stop what I'm doing and go to the stable, barracks or the garden. The garden is the most tedious as it requires me to click each plant mutliple times and for all of these tasks there is no in-game timer to remind me when an hour is up, even if I wanted to stop what I was doing every single hour and attend to them.

Out of game the the phone will alert me when one hour has passed, I can pay a coin and the job is done. I don't have to stop what I'm doing, I don't even have to be playing.

I can see why that would appeal. I don't see why that can't be free and available to everyone though.
I also doubt we'll get anything done in-game to reduce the tedium of certain jobs (eg a 'water all' option) if they wish to promote use of the app.

That's my main fear, not some crazy 'buy your OP gear' scheme but a move towards the FtP model where you can do things the tedious way and make slow progress or you can pay cash to dodge the tedium and progress faster.
I'm also concerned at QoL things like extra storage being increasingly moved behind a paywall.

The UI won't change because of various developmental flaws in how the base game was coded, not because they want to make it FTP.

I am all for having one less thing that I have to carefully manage. Half of the time I am missing out on doing a particular thing because there is not enough time in the day that I am active. I also feel like this is a way for those who may not have a lot of play time to be able to keep up on things.

I'm okey with every microtransaction this game has except retainers to a certain level I believe the while you should start with 2 I think a additional 2 should be unlockable in-game so that everyone can have one of each gatherer and 1 battle retainer think the two additional retainers
would be some great goals to work toward maybe have one unlock by maxing all battle classes and one unlock by maxing all gathering classes or be more creative with it then additional retainer can be behind a paywall for at that point its only a luxury

I'd honestly be okay with this app if they just kept it in Japan for JP accounts only. Subscription is one thing and item shop is another, but this one app just comes off as an almost outstanding degree of sleazy. Yes, SE is a business whose goal is to make money, but even I thought they'd have more self-respect as a gaming company and would hold itself to a much higher standard than to make such a shady attempt at money-grubbing.
