I think what amazes me about the app is that, p2w or not (I dont believe it is personally), is that there are people who really defend it. Apparently, a lot of people don't mind getting ripped off.

It is a simple matter of players in employment vs players in education, one has more money and one has more time.
It applies to both Japanese and English community.
APP is just a medium to reduce the gap between two groups
Thats just wrong..first we have enough people in this thread that already said that they had more than enough income to buy the app and to buy coins but still find that horrible, so your first point is wrong. There were enough people in this thread that wrote why they find it wrong and nobody said that the reason was because they could not afford it.
In a sub game there should not be a system where paying money deletes the gap between players...otherwise let us be able to buy savage gear in the mog station because someone does not have the time to raid but even though they dont have the time they should be on the same page as those that do.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Hmm not sure what you mean with this.
I have pretty much tripled the income I had while I was still studying and now with all this money I actually am more against being ripped off.
I pay a sub already.
I hear you there. I have the disposable income to buy all this crap and more. The point is, why should I have to? I pay a sub for a reason, and it's not so that every other optional thing has to be purchased separately.
Some people probably dont have a lot of free time so it will probably suit them to use it.
Personally i dont care about the app itself but it is annoying when people are trying to make it out as a pay2win when imo its so obviously not in any way.
I think there's a difference between making a constructive argument and making blatant lies to get people to support the argument against the app.
I think if people drop the pay2win nonsense their argument might get taken seriously by SE for the app.
But as long as people keep up with the fear mongering i dont see why SE would take any of these threads seriously.
I'm possitive for the app. Of course i'd rather not spending money for certain features but having retainer access when i'm at work is something i been wanting for years. I personally have not a problem spending a couple euro extra /mo to get that feature.
Preach! Some people probably dont have a lot of free time so it will probably suit them to use it.

I'm the same. I've bought things like the Shiva and Odin statues - purely for the emotes - because of a disposable income. Yet there's a huge difference between paying money for cosmetics and paying money for things that, historically, have been free quality of life features.
I must be a alien then i am in university and i am working and i find it still bullshit.
Also an real money based advantage is a real money based advantage, what someone defines as p2w does not change a factual cirumstate, so while there is in other games "more" p2w, this has nothing to do with "fear mongering".

It is because you didn't take in to account of the culture difference.
The main reason why premium service app has over-whelming positive reception by Japanese players is because they have much longer working hours and school hours (pretty much all Asians)
Their student's high school hours end at 11:00 PM in general and their adult working hour is ending around 10:00 PM.
In direct comparison to Western, they are clearly at disadvantage and that is why they are welcoming premium service.
With this premium app, they can do everything on their mobile during their school/working hours and they are willing to pay for it.
As of today, this FF14 app (yet to come out) is the only one on the market to allow players to manage in-game inventory via mobile phone (WoW Armory do not have this function)
