Ah, so I misunderstood your intent. I guess I'm too used to people wading into discussions about the cost of something in the Cash Shop waving their wallets and telling anyone who is unhappy to 'get a job'.

These are low impact extras as far as it relates to being able to access the full breadth of content in the game.

I don't agree. I think you are underestimating the problem here. Personally, I cannot see anything positive about this new currency or the cost of the Premium version of the App.

They cannot easily add more personal inventory space, I believe they have gone over the specifics of this in the past, yet people ignore that and use the retainers as a reason why they are "lying"

Yet when a $5 charge is involved suddenly it becomes much easier. Bear in mind, they must have the allotted server space to accommodate the possibility every adopts this app. Therefore, they did have it. They simply chose to gate it behind a paywall.

I think it's highly unlikely that they set up their servers to handle it "just in case" every player gets the premium app. They (and most companies) don't account for what the theoretical max would be, but only what they're actually likely to need. Just look at what happens every time a new expansion rolls out. The servers go to absolute hell because they're not meant to handle that many accounts at once. SE is aware of how many accounts there are and that they could all log on at once, but for the vast majority of day to day business the amount of people that are online is significantly lower.

While I'm not defending this premium app, it's unquestionable that the amount of money SE is spending on server space in this scenario is much lower than if they gave every player the increased inventory, without exception.

You are missing the point, COMPLETELY. I do not have a "worry" I am flat out stating retainers and this app is making gil making pay to win. This post and the last did not refute that at all, you are simply trying to pull red herrings.

It's an advantage for gil but so are other factors like having more free time than someone else. Ultimately excess gil isn't required for any content, it cannot buy equipment with a higher item level than those from other means (tome, raid) and you also can't buy gear with superior stats on the Mog Station, nor any other kind of stat booster that would give you an advantage in relevant endgame battle content. I think that's the distinction this game uses when they say no p2w.

I think the issue is comparing oneself to the people who have a larger disposable income for additional retainers, mog station glamors and such. People will be happier if they just stay grateful for the things they have and not envy others.

Incorrect, I am calling out something for what it is, and explaining to you why it is such. I said this app along with retainers makes the MB pay to win. You did not do a good job refuting this fact (I think I am correct assuming you are still trying to do that yes?)

First people accept retainers (something already on the pay to win line) now people are here defending it further by saying this app doesn't make the MB pay to win? Sorry but I am here to give you the red pill on the matter. How little or much something impacts one ability to advance does not define if something is pay to win or not. (i/e gil does not do much on this game gil is worthless etc) The fact here, managing the MB is pay to win in ffxiv, more so when this app releases. Not only do you get to sell more items, but you can list more clones. The clone thing is important because when someone undercuts you, you can undercut someone on one retainer while keeping your listing because of the second. This is a huge advantage as you can get a sale still while changing your price on the cloned item from the different retainer. (Also if price changing one item does not take down your other listings on that retainer, this is even a stronger argument on how this app makes retainer sale listings pay to win)

So trying to ague about how much money one has to spend on the game has no point in how I am stating or trying to tell you and explain why SE made the MB pay to win, even more so with this app, hence why I said you are arguing off a red herring.

For the record, I can very well afford 2+ accounts with max retainers with buying all mog shop items, I chose not to because what SE is doing is shady af. Another BIG reason I chose not to is because I know very little or none at all does not go back to fund it and improve things. If SE wants my whaling, they better put more effort and money into things

No form of microtransaction is mandatory even that P2W lootbox stuff that battlefront 2 had i mean you need to buy it to win but nobody is forcing you to buy it right??
that means what battlefront 2 did wasn't scummy at all?? and that means that everyone should shut their mouth about these monetization because its not mandatory its just stuff locked out of the game we play ?? if everyone was like you square should have locked everything beside story in the paywall because you aren't obligated to do the extreme primal savage battles PVP to finish the story so it has no value and so square can lock it because its not mandatory Right ??

This is definitely troubling if it's an in-app purchase. If it's purchased via gil, I don't see it as a problem but just a nuisance.

No you don't understand, the optional microtransactions are there to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different retainers!
