They have one, it's called the cash shop. You donate extra to the game on top of your sub because you enjoy it and find it worth spending money on and they thank you with small vanity items.
I'd prefer it too, but from their perspective anyone taking full advantage of all the offerings will be paying about $34/month (with cheapest non-legacy sub prices) + cash shop purchases + new app currency. When the mogstation was first released, I was a bit angry. But I understood that this game had initially cost the company a lot of money and strife so I accepted it. And it's just the way the world works today, so fair enough. But now? Square, I'd rather pay $20 a month to have access to everything than to keep this cashgrab
($12.99 sub + $16.00 for 8 additional retainers + $5.00 phone app)

Yeah but i meant they should bring all those mogstation items in a game without locking behind paywall, and get some extra money via donation that doesn't give anything more only shows the devs that you support their work and love the game.
But what your saying is exactly the reason why i can Agree on their decision to make that cash shop i don't like it but i get the idea of give us more money and we deliver more content.
To bad square uses that money to make more ways to Earn money instead of delivering us real content.
So haven't really been keeping up on the news, whats this app supposed to do beyond the mb?
Bonus: Using the app will activate an additional favored destination designation for teleports in game.
Two plans, free & premium.
Free:
- Group chat and direct message individuals.
- Event Calendar
- Inventory Management
- Organize Inventory & Armory
- Check the mb
- Purchase (requires the use of 1 kupo nut)
- Logging in daily will provide a "kupo nut" that can be used to purchase items from the mb. (limit to number you can hold onto)
Premium:
- All free stuff
- Organize Retainer & Saddlebag Inventory
- Saddlebag Inventory doubled.
- Additional Retainer can be hired (this just adds the ability to pay them more for 1 additional retainer, the retainer is not included)
- Additional kupo nut for logging in each day and limit to number you can hold is expanded.
Additional Currency:
Forgotting to use the app or just don't want to wait, you can buy moogle coins that work the same as kupo nuts!
Coins can be used for putting items up for sale, revising listings and purchasing items from the mb.
The companion app portion of the live letter can be watched here.
edit (04/17/18): Rewatched and noticed the revising/listing items was only mentioned for the moogle coins, not the kupo nut.

Yet more bad ideas. First it was jump potions which are not even necessary to catch new players up. Changes to the jobs, because imo players were too lazy to level other classes for the cross class abilities (healers not bothering to get swiftcast because thaumaturge was boring to level). The app is a slippery slope, that in the end will cause players to leave. Sorry Square but do you want to lose players? It's starting to resemble patterns of other games that people left to play this.

What's next? A sub for my sub?
We're playing a sub game, why not make it all free because we litteraly need to pay for the game and then pay sub to play...
I love ffxiv but theese changes are going onto f2p levels (and trust me i've played many).
Don't pay for that uneeded bs, get your pitchforks out and show them that they should not go too far.
And since purchasing items on the MB costs kupo nuts, the "free" plan isn't really free either. Not cool. I'm willing to pay a one-time cost of a couple dollars for an app, but a subscription and a freemium currency on top of that is ridiculous.

NVM missread that entire thing.
I still think this is dangerously encroaching onto p2win schemes which it most definitely shouldn't

Going to elaborate a bit more. If paying money gives you more marketboard uptime. This definitely gives you and edge in the game and is totally P2W scheme. More gil, means potentially buying gear etc...
For a game that makes you pay the game AND the subscription this is outrageous.
Up until now, paying money for in game benefits was only for comfort or glam. This is a whole new level and just simply should not be allowed.
I can let this slide as it's essentially another way to bypass the MB bottleneck (kinda). With the added fact that buying for resale greatly benefits from this. But I really don't like where this is headed.
