This is imbalanced though. Some jobs/roles have a harder/easier competition from the get go. For example, has a healer, you'd always be competing against someone who can roll need on everything you can. It can even be worse for caster DPS if they are 3+ in the same party. Tanks, on the other hand, have no competition. Same with DRG as long as they are not matched with another DRG -which again proves that the current system is wonky to begin with. The long waiting time for tanks is somewhat related to the current system though. If you want tank gear, you're forced to take the long queue and play has a tank. With the new system, no need to do that. The tank population will regulate itself. If you dont want to tank something, why do you need to gear up a tank?
With this change someone can just go in there as a DD, barely do something and get the tank chest, that the tank who probably had a way longer wait time and a way harder job may have needed to gear his main job..how is that fair?
And it's not because someone doesn't want to tank in a 24-players raid that they don't want to tank at all. In fact, the tanking experience is these instances is usually terrible, with some aggro battles going on, or being completly useless as an off-tank. I wouldn't blame anyone for not being happy to tank 24-players raids.

This change makes it worse for everyone, but at least it's balanced now.
All they need to do is to increase the number of loot in the chests so your chances of getting something go up.

So, lets take a system that sometimes hurt some people and make it hurt everyone. Now those poor RDMs have to roll against 7 other people, instead of just 3... but at least the tanks now have to fight 7 others for their gear now too! Haha tenks. (Did anyone actually get bitter that tanks/DRGs/NINs had no competition...?)
They should have added tokens. It does the exact same thing except you wouldn't have to worry about the DPS who has been dead for 90% of the fight rolling on healer gloves you might need because "muh glims". Hopefully this will be released alongside raid tokens and increased loot, because if it is then I have no qualms about this change.
I'm not saying it's a good system or that there are no better solutions. I'm just saying it's balanced. So, lets take a system that sometimes hurt some people and make it hurt everyone. It's still not balanced. Tanks have longest queues for alliance raids because there is only 3 spots for them. Now they get to still wait long and have to roll against 7 others.

Indeed. The irony is that the Adventurer in Need fluctuates to tank sometimes for Alliance Roulette. In a few cases, more that I thought it would.

Why would you assume that there will still be the same amount of tanks queuing in when they could just go in as whatever job has the lower waiting time?
And also, why would you expect that you'll constantly be rolling for the exact same gear as 7 other players? This will almost never happen. At most you'll maybe roll against two or three people if you are unlucky, which is something that can occur already. (Which is also the reason why I suggested to increase the number of drops in each chest.)

Because this isn't the first 24 man we've ever got. When wiping city came out you still had to do void ark for tokens, tank queues were still bad.
When DS came out you still had to do ark and city, tank queues were still bad, all despite you being able to go as any job.
Exactly. Not everyone will suddenly stop tanking and since its only three tanks for the whole alliance you would still have enough wait time..yet now they might not get the tank gear if it drops.
Glamour? Use for later when they may (or may not ) need it. I mean if you dont want to run this often per week some might just roll on something to get it. Even if its just something for a job that is not really used that much.
And it will get worse for those that want it for glamour later and the weekly lock out is removed..

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
That can already happen with the current system. And I think you are overestimating the number of people who'd burn their weekly lockout on something they can't even use. It'll be an exception, not the rule.Glamour? Use for later when they may (or may not ) need it. I mean if you dont want to run this often per week some might just roll on something to get it. I think that, on average, you'll compete against 0 to 4 people max, depending on the piece (a pair of boots for DRG will obviously be less popular than a chest piece for healer, for example).
