I can relate to this as well. Kind of as if you were to say cook-then give some sort of command at a restaurant...I think it'd come off a bit rude to him too.I noticed I sorta interesting trend in PF groups lately where when I'm in duty with them, and someone needs to address another member, they just call say "BRD, make your in the right spot, or SCH we need more healing." Why can't they just call them by name? It seems a bit rude...
I mean I get it's easier, but there's a sort of a blunt rudeness and disrespect about it that rubs me the wrong way.

I’ve seen that I’m both this game and others and have had it directed towards me multiple times and it never occurred to me to be annoyed about it. It’s just easier. I don’t personally care one way or the other and certainly don’t feel disrespected when it happens. No one is trying to insinuate anything about your value or personhood, they are just trying to quickly get a point across without having to waste time trying to to potentially copy down a name that is very unfamiliar to them and maybe just looks like a random long string of letters to their eye since it’d do unfamiliar to them. And honestly your job is probably the main/first thing randoms will notice. It’s really nothing personal.

I like to think I'm a fairly personable/polite player, and if we're discussing tactics pre-fight, I'll do my best to call someone by name, since I have time.
However, when we're mid-fight and that someone is standing in the middle of a death-zone and about to wipe the party that I'm healing, I'm not going to have time to type out "Omniprazole move to A". I'm going to say "BRD pls move to A" (or, tbh, just BRD PLS MOVE). Even with shorter names, it's faster for me to just type your job - and I'll be less likely to have someone get upset because I butchered the spelling in my haste. I've had someone get snippy and leave PF because I switched two letters in their name before, so... people care about that sort of thing, and I can't blame them for it (although I might blame the overreaction - just correct me).

It doesn’t really bother me. Be it in voice or text chat. Some people don’t play with full names displayed in the party list/above the characters, so I can understand why they wouldn’t know your name.
Considering some of the mispronunciations of my character’s name, I’d prefer to be called “BRD”. Though some people do get it right. Or just call me by my character’s surname.

Same reasons you chose to write "PF" in your thread title instead of spelling the full words.

Welllll,i dont see why its rude to call someone by his job and not his name, its a game, dont be childish and stop looking for something to be offended.I noticed I sorta interesting trend in PF groups lately where when I'm in duty with them, and someone needs to address another member, they just call say "BRD, make your in the right spot, or SCH we need more healing." Well well well I wonder what people will get offended by tomorrow

If I have to type something out while I'm fighting and doing mechanics, you bet your ass I'm typing as little as possible to get the point across.

I'm pretty sure this has always been a thing, only times ppl didn't do it is when there were dupes of classes. This is not unique to FF14 btw or MMO's and game that has a class based system and multiplayer is generally called my the class name or there character name if character locked, like overwatch or Dota2.
