Grinding fast in Eureka

I was told that it took up to 3 hours to get a drop, I'm not interested in grinding for that long solo.

You're going to wait longer for a change they're likely not going to make until they nerf the thing if at all. You also don't have to do that solo, you can get other lowbies you level to help, maybe while working on a low level NM. There ARE low level trains going choo choo.

Its a knock down drag out fight for me to kill a single mob with many of my stones landing for 0 on same level targets. There is no easy way for me to maintain a chain more than one before it expires. At this point, I'd rather buy the darn protean thing from the Mog Station.

:| whoever told you that is wrong, seeing how you can turn Anemos into Protean, and it doesn’t take 3 hours to get Anemos from NM.

Edit: bah I missed your first post somehow, didn’t see you haven’t gotten one yet. But honestly, That’s some terrible luck if you’ve gotten none... My wife and I did grinding with friends day 1, and by 10 we easily had 100 each before we logged out. So that’s strange you’ve gotten 0.

You still get XP from higher-leveled NMs, but you'll miss out on the lockbox and crystals.

In addition to this, the amount of exp you get is reduced more the further away you are from the target level.

This, with the addition that your XP will be penalized some, but it's still worth it. Like, at level 4 you might get 5k XP from a high level NM that would give you 15k XP if you were on level. It's still largely worth it.

But honestly, That’s some terrible luck if you’ve gotten none... My wife and I did grinding with friends day 1, and by 10 we easily had 100 each before we logged out. So that’s strange you’ve gotten 0.

Tried to find a crystal farming group in 3 separate instances, tried to solo with my lesser geared DPS (almost lost a level trying that), my WHM cant maintain a chain nor can my PLD.... so.... screw it. I'll just ride the train to 20 and hopefully I'll get a drop by then. If I don't by then, well... I'll be in great shape to cash in once they nerf the place as I'll have several stacks of crystals.

For those who say just find a group, please understand that there is only one group and that is the train, nobody else is in there doing anything other than that.

You won't get a protean crystal drop in the train unless you are tagging mobs the train is killing and can get a chain going. NMs never drop them, and mobs you didn't tag never drop them for you.

Unfortunately, there's no way to do this except by chaining mobs until you get one. It also doesn't work if you group with people too far outside your level range, in my experience (so I can't even offer to setup a PF and go help you because I'm 19 now). It's very frustrating, especially since without the protean crystal you can't get the magicite quests done, so your DPS is lower than it should be for your level.

My advice is to ask around for someone the same Eureka level as you or within 1 and ask if they can help you in FC, /shout, novice network, etc. Maybe someone else here on the forums can do it.

Unfortunately, yes. I really wish they'd add party level sync, because that would solve this. We'd have it done in 15 minutes if I could drop down to your level.

Thankfully a group splintered off of the NM train and spent 45 minutes getting me that one crystal drop. Big thanks to Cl Oud and Sai Ato! ^_^

I rode the train to 11 today, but I still cant do any of the quests because I haven't got the protean crystal drop. I now have 300 Anemos crystals but cant convert them. To the Devs, please remove the blocks on the first quests, yes we know players are not running the content the way you intended but its happened and I hope you can adjust it so people who are struggling to level up can do the content.

I got my Protean Crystal drop when was already lvl 15 but it didn't stop me from doing any quests or leveling.
First time you need this specific crystal is on the lvl 17 quest, when you have to insert one Protean and a bunch of Anemos to make some mechanism working. And only after this quest I was able to start to convert Anemos -> Protean.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I wasn't able to talk to Geralt before finishing that lvl 17 quest.
