I know I've been mighty negative about Eureka overall, but I figured I'd tell others what I've been doing and what seems to be the most "successful" way to play overall in terms of currency grinding, level grinding, and lootbox grinding.

This only works on an active map with lots going on. If you're on a dead map leave and try to get another one.

First of all, it behooves you to find a full 8man. Then, you go to one of several places depending on your level where the mobs are significantly higher than you. High enough to make the XP worth, but not so high that you can't chain. At level 7 I think I was on leshys for example. Some mobs are SIGNIFICANTLY less dangerous than others at the same level, btw. The tank and/or a ranged will single pull mobs back to the group, which is in a safe spot with nothing spawning on them. Everyone just burns the mob down continuing to chain.

At the same time, people on the map should HOPEFULLY be spawning NMs. NM spawning by itself can be really bad for XP especially if you are higher level - if you spawn lower level NMs you'll be getting 1xp per kill and you wont get chain credit iirc. So basically the gist is to be grinding yourself and hope that someone more charitable is spawning NMs. When the NMs spawn have your 8man drop everything and kill the NM. Then go back to where you were farming before until the next NM spawn.

This will be soul crushingly unfun overall but it does seem to be the most efficient way to play the map. Basically if you're not in a big party training high level mobs to your group to burn down efficiently while waiting for NMs you are wasting your time.

Unless you want to just afk in spawn, do something else, and wait for NMs ofc which will get you less overall rewards in game but if you've got monhun up on your PS4 or something next to you I'd argue that's equally efficient, just in a different way
(the fact that I even have to ponder being semi-afk really speaks to the quality of Eureka's content, sadly)

DCing at 2% on an NM and getting nothing. Why is the game like this?

I wouldn't blame people who get to Eureka later for wanting to be powerleveled (by friends or by someone they paid). It takes time and it's going to be harder and harder to find parties for the lower levels the more we play it.
Not my intention to blaming them in the first place

Yes ^^ the hot and cold one! From the beloved FF9! Ive asked so many times, i dont care where they put it :P I just think it would be something very intertaining, fun and we would have something different for a change.

Honestly, I thought it was torture at first, mostly because I didn't get everything figured out at the time, but after a few runs in Eureka, it's not as bad as I thought. While I think they could have added done a bit better, like maybe daily hunts or more items to help your exp, besides the fairy, and slightly more exp for mobs, I feel like it's kinda fun.

It's quite pleasing to see how the community's reaction evolving in such a short amount of time.
Now that people are really starting to figure out what's going on and how to play effectively, the "awful grind" has become more acceptable.

It's a bit like seeing a bunch of newbies complaining that killing ladybugs and squirrels just outside town is super long and boring, and then realizing that doing the Fate nearby is actually the intended way of doing things.

Yeah Eureka is the opposite of Diadem. Diadem started fun then went bad, Eureka started bad then went fun.
Eureka is fine, it's a first step, for part 2 they can add some of our ideas.

So all Eureka is right now is running to and spawning NMs. That's better than standing in one spot killing excess amounts of enemies I guess.

Spent another 3 hours over two partial lockouts inside Eureka tonight. More or less the same group, but went in 5-man instead of 8-man tonight. No appreciable difference in killing speed or EXP yield, but we've now worked out that the "XI-style mob grind" is more or less an illusion. You get infinitely better rewards from the NMs/FATEs, so if you're grinding mobs that don't (or can't currently due to cooldown) spawn one of those, you're wasting significant time and effort. Seeing the post on Reddit of the Serket NM dropping 30 Anemos Crystals and more than 11k EXP afterwards reinforced that belief.

I'm unsure exactly how I feel about that revelation. On the one hand, it's good that the lack of EXP received via the trash mobs have a viable - preferable, even - workaround. On the other, this now puts us in the exact same situation we were in with the Emergency Mission in Diadem 2.0 and has the very real concern of "what happens to Eureka and the Stormblood Relics once people start afking en masse and/or finish their Relic and no longer queue in."

I still don't like Eureka. It's still immensely boring, still does a number on my hands (changing my controller layout for this singular piece of content seems absurd), and more than anything else the rest of XIV will continue to march along regardless of how much or how little we torture ourselves here. Read that you need to kill the rank 20 NM as part of the final stage of the Relic as well, which maybe isn't terribly surprising but does better put into perspective how much of a drag the process will be. Was already balking at the level requirements for the Magicite missions jumping from 5 to 13.

Im sorry to say but my opinion on this is never going to change. It's bad design and I'm honestly finding it hard to understand people like the choices made in its design. It's a boring monotonous slog. I had more fun farming Alexander 1 Savage for lights than I did this. At least there I had mechanics to do. This is just bash your face against a mob endlessly. It's mindless and terrible. The HW Relic was NEVER this bad.

Not everyone has time to bash their face in Eureka for hours on end. Some people have careers. Jobs. Lives. This is not how it should be designed. People who don't throw themselves at this for hours on end repeatedly are going to suffer when everyone else has caught up. This was DELAYED for so long and we get a horrible product in return. What a waste of development resources.
