It's not a gaze effect. That's a healer mechanic - a healer has to top off whomever gets the doom debuff. Somebody is going to get hit with doom regardless of whether they are looking at the boss or not. Run it again unsynced and get hit with the mechanic...you'll see that it'll kill you if you don't get healed.
I and several others who I team with don't get hit with it when we look away. So if its not a gaze mechanic...we can call it a peek-a-boo mechanic? Whatever you want, either way, I never get hit by it.
Well since we're posting in this thread, here's a story.
I once met a healer that let a person die in a fight over one 'mistake' they made in the run. They made plenty on the way, but that doesn't matter because they're the healer and they're perfect little angels. <3
Then help correct the misinformation and provide proof. Many have tried and cannot duplcaite your results so help the community by correcting the misinformation. Why are you pushing back at a chance to correct wrong information.
Because you weren't chosen to get hit by it. It's random. If somebody is going to get hit, they'll be hit with it regardless of whether they're looking away or not.
Well thankfully I'm not a perfect little angel....cool story bro.
When my team looks away no one gets hit by it....lets move on buddy this is getting nowhere, back on topic.
Sure, I'll get right with you, making the vid in a couple of minutes.
The only place I can find that it is stated to be a gaze is on the FFXIV wiki page(here). It's a wiki so it can be edited by anyone and watching the MTQ guide in the same link mentions nothing about such a mechanic, so...
OH I see...I understand why you simply don't get it.
You think the doom is supposed to hit everyone in the party?
It doesn't.
It picks one player to cast Soul Douse on. The other 3 in the party don't "dodge it" they simply were not the ones targeted by it.
In the end you are still incorrect about the mechanic. Turning around won't stop the player from being doomed if the boss chooses to use Soul Douse on them.
