Running new content blind is just about the most fun you can have in the game(my opinion of course). Content patch days are a blast - if i dont have to work i make sure im on early enough in the morning so that no one can even potentially spoil any runs for me. When i know i wont get to something for a few days, i go into spoiler-avoidance overdrive. Most mechanics are repeats of course(though sometimes in new combinations), and even most new ones are intuitive enough to figure out on the fly. If ive done something a couple times and am still having trouble, thats when i look for a guide. I will look up a guide for a savage-tier run, but i dont do those all that often.

With that said, i know not everyone feels the same. If theres a new person in the group and the instance has any trickier mechanics ill ask the new person if they want an explanation or just to wing it. Both options are fine. I can type out a quickie explanation in a few seconds, or we can start the fight and i can just do the mechanics right giving them a chance to figure it out or watch.

With an ilvl of about 320ish with my dark knight level 60 anima equipped for light. Quing up for a level 50/60 roulette. Get the Great Gubal library hard in progress, under 10 minutes in.
First thing I get is big pulls from one of the dps.
My response was I'm the tank I determine how much I pull not you. I actually saying that in party chat. While thinking I was planning on doing big pulls without being told to, didn't say that in chat though.
They proceed to argue about this. When I'm in the middle of pulling the groups of enemies before the first boss. So I just stop. I stop pulling the second group and go stand in a corner. Letting everyone else die, normally I would just let that one person die. Because the others didn't say or do anything really.
I can understand why I joined this 10 minutes in as a tank now with a dps telling the tank how to tank.
I ended up getting kicked, requing and was in a new dungeon in seconds.

No offense but it sounds like you were just as immature as they were. It's not cool when DPS go ahead and pull for the tank, but you went ahead and punished the whole party because they didn't jump to your defense against a random jerk. You deserved to get grief for that IMO. "I was gonna do it anyway but now that a guy went and did it for me, I'm gonna let them all die" is a terrible attitude.

If you had let the dps die when he pulled for you that would have been fine.instead you waited for a random moment to wipe the party.Thats just being a jerk.Please dont play tank anymore if you're going to have that attitude.You fully deserved to be kicked.

Says the person who got a mechanic wrong and tried to blame the DPS for it and was politely corrected by someone in this very thread and you gave them a salty attitude as a reply instead of asking further questions to clarify or saying thank you to them for explaining how the actual mechanic works.

YMMV, I've never gotten hit with the mechanic, as has no one in my group when I told them about the tactic. Same thing with Petrification in Fractum. Either the mechanic is faulty or there's a random roll of getting hit vs not getting hit at all. Point being, I did research, so I was prepared for either, heaving to heal a person to full and dealing with dodging the effect to begin with. There's nothing ignorant about being informed. Nice try though.

Back on track;

Was doing 6 runs of Ultima last night. 3 out of the 6 went fine. The last three we're probably the biggest examples of scapegoating I've seen yet. Firstly the DPS couldn't pass the check. The Scholar died out the gate all 3 times, his reply always being "My internet is acting up"...so join a trial? Smh. Had one tank who literally stood in the "fire" (though applicable here) during all phases and wondered why he died so quick. But the real punchline was having one of the dps say "This is one of the easiest trials"...yeah, not tonight buddy.

Being as you claim otherwise the responsibility is on you to prove otherwise. If it is so readily available should be fairly easy to provide a link or some proof. If I recall even when asked before the video proving you otherwise you simply said you how it works which goes against what others have shown. I mean if you can simply provide proof that looking away works then a lot of people would not be able to say shit about your claim. You sort of strike me as the type of person that would not shy away from proving people wrong. Figure the lulz you would get for proving everyone that looking away works. That would be savage.

No, the mechanic you insist is a buggy gaze mechanic is a random target mechanic that can be skipped with high DPS. You cannot avoid it by looking away from the boss; only by pushing him with enough damage so that he skips Doom and goes on summoning Sacred Idols/adds instead. Any guide that told you it was a look-away mechanic was misinformed (especially since all look-away/gaze mechanics feature the giant red eyeball now).

The Petrifaction mechanic in Fractum IS a gaze mechanic, but if you time it just right, you can turn around right as the cast finishes and still dodge the status effect. That's nothing more than client-side latency on that the server doesn't recognize that you turned back to face the boss. Works the same as slide-casting. There's nothing "buggy" about it in that it will hit some and not others; it's just how client to server communications function.

In all fairness, he may very well have been lagging. I was having lag last night myself, and it only occurred during duties for some reason. Sometimes you don't know your Net is acting up until you join in a duty and realize your skills aren't going off; especially if you tend to idle in the overworld while waiting for a queue.

Let it go, we're both not believing each other, so we're doing nothing but stroking our own e-go's.
