Don't be sad! It's an honest mistake as I didn't know. I thought you turned it off when you were MTing and keep it on when you're OTing. I'm not a tank main, I'm a BLM main, and I'm still learning tanking. I know now, and that's the important thingA note about your Shiva run:
As a (possibly former) DRK main, this saddens me. Darkside should always be on, regardless of Grit's status. Darkside isn't a "DPS stance" it's a damage boost and required for several of your other skills to work. Ideally, you should turn it on when you log in and if/when you get synced down (assuming it's available at your sync level) and forget about it.

Canadian, eh!"When someone told me I live in a fantasy land, I nearly fell off my unicorn"

Having read the long version, you would have been entirely justified in doing a vote kick. Since your partner was with you, you'd have been successful.
That stuff is entirely kick worthy. Let them go enjoy the queue again.

Yes and player like the ninja just deserve to be kicked.
I just tell the party that it's my first time if I get a dungeon/trial that I've never run before. It actually helps.
Had weeping city the other day where all 3 tanks stayed in dps stance.Every fight me and the other monk kept getting agro. Our dark tried to main tank but wouldnt switch grit on so me and the other monk kept getting the agro on boss.I had to main tank and add on the second boss when the succubus spawned because the tanks just focused dpsing.
Then on the last boss after both of us dying yet again because we had agro. One decided to main tank the boss like a troll and hugged it to the corner when the blade arm was facing the centre of room so it could cleave nearly all the alliance. For the record both of us monks were useing ddversion too.

Leveling pally to 60. Got into Brayflox as leveling roulette and both the SCH and BRD are watching cutscene. SCH is level 41 and has the road to 60 bonus also. They had to be prompted to summon fairy so I figured, ok newbie let's just take it slow. Quickly noticed during first room (I always put healer as focus target if i'm tanking) that he's not casting anything and just letting fairy heal. Not even dpsing either.
So all that makes me like, not want to pull big.
He then complains I'm not pulling big. I tell him no cus i'd rather not with his apparent focus on fairy healing and just standing around. proceeds to be a dick about it. Comes up with a totally original pussy joke so I eventually just figured I'd show him wrong about his apparent healing skills and pull all 3 groups before Aiatar. Low and behold he's so focused on commenting on my tanking that he doesn't heal and we almost wipe there (including a hard cast raise on me). I was kinda tired at this point so I did kinda snipe back at him there. Apparently joking around and saying I'm a good tank obviously excuses his behaviour.... sure.

That NIN would have been kicked faster than a monk can loose GL stacks >.>
He/she was deliberately making things harder, and you and your healer friend were amazingly patient with it despite it all from the sound of things. DPS wants to pull, then they can eat the damn floor and stay there.

During a Fractial Continium Hardmode run I was doing large pulls on my tank the entire time then after the second boss I hit a lag spike and everything freezes then moves and freezes again on my screen I let the party know I was lagging then a minute later the Ninja started pulling other stuff saying I was wasting his aoe, why are people so rude? I was doing large pulls the whole time yet when I have an issue and slow down someone flips out.
Sometimes when you lag, the message doesn't go through. I have had that happen, usually right before I get disconnected, but not sure if the message wouldn't go through just while getting lots of rubber band lag.

I understand that the message might not have gotten through I’m just upset the first assumption was I was doing bad when I was doing large pulls the whole time before. The way they worded it was super snippy too “pro tip: don’t waste out aoe”. There’s no need to jump to that sort of attitude.
