Blitzball might or might not work...people just gave you a realistic approach on the matter based on the way they have been implementing mini games until now.

I liked blitzball back in the day, GS however i rarely do anything and actually never see much activity there other then the cactpot
The reason why the gold saucer hasn't been active because there is zero updates since its initial release back in 2.5. Imagine if people are doing the same savage raid release in 2.5 and nothing changes. People would get bored.
Point taken, and actually people have been bored with Savage, lol
The ultimate edition of Blitzball for me would be an SE take on NFL Street but soccer like. But with that one to one action, I don't see blitzball being full on action since servers would implode.
So what would not go into that action realm but still delve into the realm of what a multiplayer game means?
Final Fantasy XIV Tactics Online.
Have a PvP and/or PvE gameplay to it. Solo would work just like the offline Tactics. Grouping cooperatively would be flexible, any members not controlled by humans would be filled out by AI. The PvP would allow one vs one and npcs, two vs two and npcs, and so on and so on.
The graphics in this mmo would likely surpass anything done on the PSP or older PS consoles. Until an offline version is made with modern standards, this would be the go to tactics for fans to get their fix. It would allow constant iteration being an online game that you must pay to play. And with that constant iteration, SE could use this as a testing bed for what a future offline FF tactics could be.
If there is actual gear that can be unlocked for this content as well as party members, then the gameplay itself would draw players to want to participate in it. And the big advantage is that SE could reuse assets already designed for other parts of the game to achieve this.

i think it should be a yearly summer event it would keep people interested in it and give better rewards than at golden saucer
Would like to play it if done right.
People are saying it would be dead like LoV but cmon... LoV isn't done right. Terrible UI, and even worse to play on PS4. At least we know blitzball could work on controller :3
As much as I like Blitzball and like XIV PvP (well, liked. . .), if they made it PvP:
1. They'd find some way to screw it up.
2. Bots.
3. People would hate it purely because it's competitive. And "competitive blah blah is always toxic", "Red team always wins (and not because people neither know what to do or are properly trying)", "I play for fun so [insert excuse here]", etc. . .
Blitzball wasn't even that great in FFX, what with its absurd RNG. It fell under the category of "it sounds a lot cooler than it actually ends up being". If it ever sees the light of day, it'd likely end up being about as popular as Ballista was in FFXI.
I'd rather our devs focus their resources on making battle content. No more mini games please.....
