I remember carrying JP LS all the time. Letting them have NM (NM Rotation). Then picking up the pieces after they wipe. This thread is pretty funny people put the jp community on this golden pedastle but having played ffxi I have seen just as many terrible jp players over the years and in fact the worst case of harassment I had ever received came from a group of jp players who didn't like the fact I was camping and NM and it lasted almost a month before a GM took action on them.
Just because we are culturally different doesn't mean one or the other is "better".
JP are very nice to each other... As long as your hair is black, your blood is the right type, and you act and dress like you are "suppose to"
Regardless of how you feel about the political climate, toxicity in online gaming, and really any interactive media in general, has been around MUCH longer then the last few years. The only way you won't find it is if a country doesn't have access to online gaming.

Would you feel better if I listed the Fox News version? It's the same story. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2017/11...air-black.html
The whole point is it really is time to take a closer look at what people are saying. More often than not it leads to people carrying out what they are saying.
Bobs go home, you're drunk.
What do surges of hate crimes (and false hate crimes) have to do with people being dicks on the internet?
I've been gaming online for 20 years. I can assure you from my two decades of anecdotal experience that online communities have always been full of asshats. As for North Americans being belligerant, ill-informed, self-righteous, ignorant, self-aggrandizing, bullies: that's just part of our charm. We're also well-intentioned, compassionate, and kind. There wouldn't be endless debates about culture and toxicity if everyone were a monster.
I think we spend too much time talking (writing) about the perceived wrongness of others. "Why is everyone in such-and-such a pig? Why can't that they be more like Kansas?" That's just the grass looking greener on the other side. I treat the internet like a ride on the subway: If some sick f*ck wants to go on a rant about his imaginary enemies, I switch seats. We're not a captive audience.

“Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.”

It's really not as bad as certain people are trying to make out. The only times I have ever clashed with people online has been - ironically - with those obsessed with tone policing and virtue signalling. Many of those individuals refuse to even talk things over and smooth out any issues - but by that point it becomes pretty clear that they're more interested in playing victim, pushing their political beliefs on other or are simply trying to put on a show to bait upvotes or infamy.
There has always been dubious people online. Though I have my doubts that anyone can truly have an experience where the vast majority of people they meet are obnoxious. If it reaches a point where someone believes that everybody is out to get them then it's far more likely that they are the one rubbing people the wrong way, not the other way around.
At any rate, political debates aren't really suited to a place such as this. Especially when they're irrelevant to the supposed issue at hand.
(if I'm reading this paragraph correctly): If you are implying this only happens on JP servers, I should tell you this is exactly what happens, like, 75% of the time in every roulette over here in Primal.
and inb4 threadlock/deletion.
Yes the NA can be bad but lets not put the japanese players on a pedestal. There are examples from players where they disliked having a none japanese player in their group, also they have a bit of a problem with stalking of people and they have their own black list which can be seen by anyone outside the game. Good luck if you made a mistake once and behaved bad..you will be put on this black list and there are even cases of people being stalked when they moved server since you can track them through the lodestone. You will also have players that tried to sell houses for real money.
They probably have the same bad apples as NA or EU but the grass is always greener on the other side.
People from outside of Japan still face quite some racism if they live in Japan or visit it so not everything is fine there. And putting the group over the individuals is not always the best.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Now when you say American are you talking about the European Americans or the Latin Americans or the African American or the Asian American? Or are you talking about us Russian Americans? Bro if you got a problem with Russians you better say something.
