I take it he's still looking into it because nothing was done about it and the player carried on playing until... he got banned for toxic behaviour.

What about the Ruin 4 hackers? What about the Pomander exploiter?

Square Enix have had a history of not punishing cheaters.

Does this show how the NA community is listened to? It takes months for us to communicate properly to get these type of things looked into? Makes me feel like a second rate customer.

First of all the FF14 forum users are a very small minority of the games playerbase.
Second of all its up to the NA team to pass on info.
If the Devs are stating that they were only made aware about it last night and investigating the situation then its kind of clear that someone in NA wasnt doing doing their job and passing the info on.
To say they dont listen to NA players is just silly but at the same time they cant make every stupid request people make.

This isn't a new phenomenon, though. Most English-language users have questioned for years why it only seems like issues get resolved when it takes off amoung JP speaking players. It's straight up language barrier, and really frustrating as it seems to happen to everything.

The best example I can give are how PVP players use every chance we have to point out the botting abuses utterly destroying the modes, but it's not an issue at all on JP servers. Conclusions are drawn.

I can't speak on other language clients, but this doesn't seem comparable to other major games on FFXIV's scale since the devs speak English!

That is not entirely confirmed at this point, especially since the bug in question 4 months ago may not have even been done the same way.

As far as I know, this was never posted here 4 months ago. It might have been posted on reddit 4 months ago (as a cheater using a cheat engine, it's unknown), but it's personal anecdotes of people trying to contact SE directly and obviously it failed to get to the dev team. There's a clear failure here, and some people that were supposed to relay this info, did not.

Very unlikely, as they usually post videos online (including parses), and using the exploit is very visible.

Well considering their crafters dont get in trouble for data mining to prep mats and rotations so they have fully melded new gear ahead of everyone else i dont think they would punish world first clears even if they did use it.
