Doll's or Girl's Day - Hinamatsuri - is a cultural day in early March. They mark most major celebrations that celebrated in Western culture and because this Japanese cultural day falls in in what I would imagine is a nice schedule to allow a calendar of events year round.
From my experience with SE and with this game in general, they fixate on women, a lot. Last year's LLD was devoid of men, and was just female pop stars. If the event was about "Dolls" then why call it "Little Ladies Day"? Also if you played in 1.0, do you remember 2012's Little Ladies Day event?
