    What really bothers me is this isolated instance is the replacement of the relic grind, which was specifically designed to keep players going back to old content at a drawn out pace with a tangible reward. You could also only move forward on this grind. Even players unable to keep pace could reliably keep up a few steps behind as part of SE's catch-up patch designs. But it forced you to do multitudes of content across the game, keeping stuff active.

    Eureka being an isolated zone for top tier gear verses being an alt route as we saw with say, PotD gear, means that many players will basically have to live in Eureka or never touch it at all to be in the higher ranked gear of the day. The alternative is Eureka being too easy, and everyone walks away over geared in a couple weeks, and the content dies across the board.

    How many players do you think will get de-leveled once, proceed to rage at how unfair that is, and then never touch this place again?

    Depending on how many people migrated from FFXI to FFXIV, either some or not many.

    Right, and this much is a relief, even though I can see some (hopefully not many) people popping that return button quickly out of some sort of habit. I can't tell you how many times I see this in the world and am like, "Dude, I was about to rez you!" lol

    Hah, no. People raged about de-leveling in XI while playing it. 'Course XI also had the added "go **** yourself" bits wherein you needed to have some lower-level gear on hand in the event you did de-level, otherwise you'd wind up naked, and that EXP gains were so miniscule that dying with a full penalty even once could erase an entire day or more of work. I would be impressed if Eureka managed to be that bad, but considering how many people I see die in the overworld on a daily basis while I'm running around gathering... a lot of people are going to be super annoyed.

    The number of active XI vets playing XIV probably isn't even a blip on the radar compared to how many people have come from the likes of WoW or are playing XIV as their first ever MMO (/game, period) at this point.

    FFXI fans love the fact that they can wear the symbolic gear again in XIV. I don't see how that's bad. I've also been waiting to dye my RDM AF >.>; so I'm excited. I mean yeah, a new design for relic gear would've been nice but realistically they wouldn't have had the time with how big this past patch was. Maybe they'll add it as time goes by as part of Eureka, who knows.

    I hope they add the Dalmatica, Vermillion Cloak, Haubergeon, Noble's Tunic. Yingyang robe for SMN... the list goes on <3

    I'm just overly cautious as several details that have kept me out of FFXI are present in Eureka. I've been playing XIV instead of XI for a reason. The XI armor styles make it pretty abundantly clear Eureka is a gift to FFXI fans, too, much like Omega's been fueled by nostalgia, so it's all just rubbing me the wrong way.


    Although, the seperated mechanics somewhat explain the repeated delays.

    Not a bad thing, but uninspired. When he heard we’d have Stormblood relic weapons and gear from Eureka I was expecting a unique design and not an old one with the dye switch turned on. I’m happy to get dyeable AF and classic FFXI gear (FFXI veteran myself, I rocked the Haubergeon!) but I would have liked something more. Hopefully what we saw was just a sample and they’ve got a wide range of stuff that they want us to discover for ourselves.

    Personally I'm somewhat excited about Eureka. I like the concept. I'm not worried about the deleveling since it won't have the FFXI issue or "I can't equip mah gear anymore" since it will only affect elemental levels. It'll be interesting to find out how long it takes to relevel elemental levels and how much it affects someone. I'm not worried if it ends up being similar to Diadem as I personally quite like Diadem and games with NMs.

    However I won't have a true opinion until I get to play it AND until I see how other players react to it. (By that I mean whether it'll suffer the same fate as Diadem. While i may like it, the fact that there are only 2-3 parties in there at a time means emergency missions are impossible. If NM's end up like that should people decide to stop going there, that'll be frustrating for those of us who stick with it)

    That being said. I would have much preferred for them to do "Eureka" using the existing maps. Surely they could have found ways to put in these elemental concepts and Magia board with the mobs we already see in there and put in NMs (that are separate from Hunts and hopefully spawn more often) to get people to repopulate these old areas. A new area just means even less people in older areas. Hopefully it's something they're considering expanding to older areas once they see how people react to it.

    need to include Duelist artifact set for RDM if it's not already here. Maybe the mythic set but give that RDM hat a refresh effect. Would yinyang be SMN only? How would yinyang robe work for drops? Would it be off a 20 hr spawn time NM that only arggos to magic? How would you get the gear anyway.
