Hate him and his arrogant sister. I'm happy with Nero and Zenos. The Empire have the best npcs. Lyse is all arrogant with Fordola too. For me they can kill Lyse and we stay with Fordola as our friend and waifu. There is a cutscene that I laugh hard when we kill a mob and than Lyse appears on the fight pose asking if the warrior of light (us) was alright. When we going take the spots on this game and not the npcs? I wanna Yugiri on the holophotes.

Arrogant is the last thing Alphinaud is, especially after the Crystal Warriors saga. Alisae's arrogance is only around her brother, because she knows that Alphinaud intentionally steps back because he doesn't want to tread boundaries. Zenos? He's a mindless killing animal that had to be put down. Fordola would kill us the instant we turned our backs on her, because of who we are and what we represent. She is not, nor will she ever, our waifu. The WoL is not evil. We do not work for the Empire. In the games many shades of grey, the Empire is one that is definitely not something most people would support.

. If I had my way, Alphinaud would be relegated to being the Scion bean-counter that he's always secretly longed to be, and Raubahn or Merlyb or Kan-E would be leading the charge.

If there's one thing Gaius was right about, it's how weak the city state leaders truly are. They might be powerful individuals, but until the twins showed up, they were content to let Ala Mhigo rot, stay walled within their cities, and let the Scions deal with the primals (Company of Heros was an exception). Alphinaud may appear to be a weal bean counter, but he's shown he can handle himself in a fight (I know many summoners would love to have the moonstone carbuncle), he's the most effective leader and politician in the game, he's one of the few people who genuinely appreciates the toll that WoL is under, and he's also one of the few friends the story gives us.

Worked the opposite for me instead. I couldn't stand "Yda", I found her irritating beyond measure and completely braindead. Completely out of place in a group of intellectuals too. I was very happy when the unmasking happened and she showed to be an actual person with a brain, a personality, goals etc, and not just a dumb sidekick for Papalaymo.

Fair enough that Yda was more of an airhead of a character, but there was enough underneath the hood to indicate she wasnt a braindead idiot, but someone of complexity. Guess I dont like how they revealed that complexity, cause all the humor and interest of her turned into a hardcore hate shtick for the Garleans who was all serious no nonsense and a little to cliche. But t hats personal preference for me.

Alphinaud's growth just seems more organic in comparison.

Hopefully never, Alphinaud is a great character especially now that they have both twins traveling together with you at points. They can give Lyse the boot if they want though.

And the GC leaders are pathetic, bickering amongst themselves over stupid stuff (seriously, why does the Cartenau "conflict" even exist) and nowhere to be found when you needed them. Weapon of Light, indeed. Only useful when you're helping them.

The only nation leader worth a damn is Aymeric and the only nation worth a damn is Ishgard, because Ishgard stepped up for you when nobody else would and they still step up for you when you need them. No questions asked. When the other guys bailed on you and let the Brass Blades hunt you like a dog, Ishgard was like, "you Ul'dahns come in here and you're gonna find out what an army of Dragoons descending on your heads feels like".

I wouldn't mind less Alphinaud for the rest of the expac to be fair. Yeah ok he ain't that bad, but considering how much screen time Y'shtola had in HW being in the lifestream etc and then in SB being bedridden it just feels like it's always Alphinaud here or there. Kinda glad Alisae got more time though, but maybe the Scions need some fresh blood. People are either dead or on the cusp of dying most of the time...

Honestly, I have always liked Alphinaud and enjoyed his character throughout the story, now that Alisae is in our group, the two have the most entertaining dynamic of any of the scions (hell most of the scions flat out lost personality, rip Thancred)

The longer he stays around, the better.
