    Yes. Regardless of what browser you use in daily life, XIV's launcher borrows settings from Internet Explorer.

    Well, the person who has the router in their room doesnt think its the router and doesnt want to try port forwarding it. Any other ideas?

    Thank you for the update Parthieon,

    It sounds like you've tried everything we would normally suggest (except port forwarding, but you may have your hands tied with that). It may seem like a hassle, but can you try to update the game using a different connection? Maybe use a wireless hotspot or go to a friend's house? This will indicate whether the issue comes from the connection or the device.

    I was able to get help with the person on port forwarding the router. Still no change, the error still persists.

    So said person let me use their pc to download ffxiv and see if i can log in on, and it worked, it was able to start patching. I also reinstalled my nvidia drivers to see if that would help but that didnt fix my issue. At least i was able to fix out its device based

    I put my ffxiv on another hard drive, and its still not working. Could steam be causing an issue? I dont know what to try doing at this point.

    I would really also want to avoid having to format my pc if i can, i have a lot of stuff thats on my hard drive and i want to avoid redownloading it if i can
