Adressing the roots of the housing problem

When did they say that? I never saw that in any translation that I read. I know Yoshida talked about wanting to make it happen in the past, but I've never heard if they actually looked into it or if it was just on the board as something to do in the future.

For the life of me I can't find the source right off hand. I swear I heard/read something to that effect when I was looking at the translations from the live letter, but I'd have to go back through youtube videos and such to try and verify. Which I can't really do atm since I'm at work lol.

Apartments open up slowly yes but still open up. I saw one open two days ago but then it was nabbed ^^ Also just yesterday I found a empty small plot on the lav beds (thought i'd never see that) So..I guess that happens as well on Balmung its just extremely rare.

and also I agree, the housing problem is very a struggle especially when some people who RP with multiple alts think they need a house for each character to "tell their story" Eye roll I have two more alts on Balmung and they do not own a apartment nor would i ever desire to own another home on them either. Just wish SE could let alts be added to our house we already have.

I also have two alts that I RP on Balmung and find that I have no desire to own a home on either of them. I just want to be able to use Cerise's house on them! My private chambers are enough housing for my alts.

I don't know about your server but on Odin 80-85% of the houses are taken by players, not FC's, so they deserve those houses. Also, Only FC's can fill up the new plots, personal houses can only MOVE meaning they free up the spot they move from, wich in turn can only be bought up by FC's.

The problem for me is not so much FC's getting to go first, it is the fact that while I want to get a house in Shirogane I know this will be impossible with the way it is set up for patch 4.2, because the people who already have houses will move to any open spot in Shirogane even before I can attempt to get one.
What I am saying is that relocation should be blocked as well until FC's have had their chance and THEN players without a house and people who want to relocate can have a go at it TOGETHER. That would at least be more fair in my opinion, unlike having people with no house just standing by, watching how every house is taken by the people from FC's and people who already have one.

If it's any compensation Wrasha, I am not relocating because I don't want to have to redeco my whole house hehe. Relocation however, doesn't do anything as far as taking another spot count but rather moving from one neighborhood to another you desire leaving your vacated spot open for another. People moving from the less desirable Goblet or to a plot you like better due to scenery does make it tough if you want to settle there but at least you might be able to grab a house. The only up side I can really see is a prettier area outside because nobody spends a lot of time outside anyway. As for the FCs getting a spot, well, right now on voice chat and in other FCs, they already began preparations enabling people to be the first to move by making themselves a FC of their own just in case. Should be real interesting come patch day *popcorn*.

Well the relocation rubs me the wrong way really, because people without a house would also like to get the "pretty scenery" but we are denied that chance because people with houses already, can go grab them up before we get a chance to even buy a house. So like I said we will be fighting over the scraps if there are even any left when FC's have had theirs and that is not fair to me.

To Wrasha:Perhaps wards made up of smalls and mediums for single buyers and then wards reserved for FCs with mansions. I know many would like at least a medium for their first house but I only had a small for months until pre-freebie server move, 2 meds happened to vacate at the same time. Mediums are much more cost effective and fun to deco and there are so few in each ward. I get that you have your heart set on Shiro. I had mine set on a beachfront in the Mist but here I am in a med in the beds and here I shall stay I reckon

But in the end we also have more personal players than FCs so it should be normal to have more personal owned houses than FC houses, especially since its so easy to get at least some million gil as a solo player. Honestly this just shows that SE seems to lack some kind of foresight. It was their descision to make private and FC houses in the same ward instead of making the wards FC only and private houses instanced. Now after such a long time they still dont want to change the system itself..instead they go the easy way and punish the personal owners because they just dont feel like creating a better system.

FC only wards and instanced houses that can be upgradet to any size would solve the problem and be a long time solution..yet their "fair" solution is to lock out a lot of the buyers.

Heck they show the lack of foresight by introducing the apartments without any outside place and seemingly coded in a way that makes this hard to add..after so many years of feedback..and instead of introducing an apartment system with different sized room its just a slightly bigger FC room..

Its like they dont care at all..then please stop putting more features in there and stop creating all those housing items..if you are not willing to improve the system..

The room is the exact same size. They used the exact same floor plan/ model/ whatever you want to call it for apartments that they already had for FC rooms. It just costs 200k more and won't be destroyed ever, so you're not dependent on your FC to have it.

I agree that the system is bad! But the way it is now it's an ok solution. The only way to fix it is to revamp it completely. As you said, personal housing instanced. Upset a small number of players by relocating personal plots (full refund) to instanced rather than upsetting the majority of players over and over and over with every "change". I'm lucky and am going to try and relocate my small to a medium, but considering how previous housing updates have been going i don't expect to get one.

I agree that the system is bad! But the way it is now it's an ok solution. The only way to fix it is to revamp it completely. As you said, personal housing instanced. I'm lucky and am going to try and relocate my small to a medium, but considering how previous housing updates have been going i don't expect to get one.

Or, they could offer instanced housing as an alternative addition to wards. Keep the wards we have as they are, and offer players the option to relocate to instanced housing from a warded house instead of just refunding gil and items. Some players would stay, and some would move. I personally like my relatively active ward that I live in. While I don't interact with my neighbors much, I do see them and /wave often. I'd miss that going to instanced housing. People in dead wards would probably be ok with moving though.

i think one more stipulation should be put in place, if you own more than 1 FC and House being grandfathered in... you cannot relocate anything until you drop all excess properties down to the 1:1 ratio. it allows more people to get a chance, and when you have that many houses you don't need anymore advantages or favor. give new owners a fair shake to enjoy the same features you have enjoyed
