I just hit level 52 or so with BRD and I was shocked when I was first able to combine Mage's Ballad with Rain of Death. I sat there and was like "Holy shit BRDs have OP AoE... How did I not know this?"

Your story might explain why I never thought BRDs were ridiculous good at AoE. It feels so good to constantly weave in Rains of Death after ever GCD j font know why more people aren't doing it.

There is absolutely nothing more satisfying than having RoD proc between every GCD so I can weave it between Quick Nocks. <3. BRD can be an AOE beast. That’s why it makes me so sad when I see BRDs that don’t AOE. Quick Nocking during Army’s isn’t that bad either once you hit 4 stacks, but not as satisfying as RoD proc-ing like there’s no tomorrow. :3

I just get so frustrated with DPS that don’t AOE. Had another one just a few minutes ago...a MCH. I know they took away Grenado Shot and something about Spread Shot is boring or whatever, but if I can stand there and spam Scatter for half my MP pool, you can spam Spread Shot. >.> I’ve gotten to where I tell people to AOE in chat because I just lose my patience. I’m not mean about it or anything; usually I just say “Please AOE ;-;” or something like that, but it’s just so annoying...

The last boss I actually believe is much more forgiving and when that big circle aoe comes out, I just position my self directly under the boss so everyone can move in for a heal :P

If I get it, and it's on the tank, I'll move to bring it off the tank, but that's rare. Most times I'm far enough back that it's not impeding anyone else and if it is, there's lots of room for them to move. I'll obviously move if I have to and not eat damage because "HEALERS ADJUST!" but it's not ideal.

I had a LOT of problems with Kelpie when I first started doing Skalla in November-ish. I died consistently there for many runs. If you're still having issues, someone told me a great tip. If you get that orange target on you, run to the corners and let the puddle drop there and then try to just slowly reposition so that when the bubble pops, it won't be in line with whatever direction he's pushing/pulling you in (so try to have the tether and orb going diagonally from one corner to you). Since that, I've not died to Kelpie. I still see lots of others who run around before the puddle drops and then you end up with puddles in the middle of the platform (and one DPS the other night tried stacking with me!).

Nothing bad this go around. Finally cleared O2S today and while it was pretty infuriating at the time, it's funny thinking back on one of the failed runs. We had a Dragoon in the party who launched the LB3 at the boss at around 30%. That in itself was WHY but what was funnier was half of the party died right after to some mechanic, including a healer, so that left the tanks to get Paranormal Waved to death while the remaining heals tried their best to salvage the raid. Of course, it didn't work and it was a wipe. Literally 20 seconds earlier, we could've had the limit break but oh nooooo

Dragoon then says, "And with that, I take my leave" and bails before Protect can go off. I don't think he was trolling in the slightest. Just that moment of knowing he'd screwed up and taken away our LB3 that would've saved that run, so he leaves in shame. I hope you find your clear, Dragoon.

I mained BLM for the first six months of my time in FFXIV, until SB released. I can't imagine running Skalla as BLM, trying to keep up DPS and dodging the tail swipe while people drop AOEs on you.

It's not too bad as RDM, and I keep to the edge of the instance during the fight so I don't need to move when I get the AOE. I would hate to run that one as a turret caster class.

I've run Skalla so many times (because Expert Roulette seems to give it so frequently), that I've gotten ok with where I place myself. That said, though, it is a challenging fight for BLM, as is Kelpie (the first boss). The rest is not bad with the exception of the mobs near the transformation circles (dunno what they're called). I had a tank the other night who pulled each mob on top of the circles and that left incredibly little safe space for the rest of us to stand out of the conal AOEs. I don't see the advantage of doing it that way, but maybe there is one I don't know about?

Besides instantly transforming once the mobs are down, I don't think there is any benefit. They don't offer any buff/debuff that I'm aware of. Now that I think about it, those mobs are pretty unfriendly for BLM too. Most SB content seems to ignore the class' movement limitations.

Having never played BRD, and only having a brief knowledge of their skills, this REALLY sounds awesome.

Stand to his side at the last boss: his punch is a line aoe and his tail a cone, so you only have dodge his "beam". a good tank would tank him at a side and turn him, that his side is open to the arena. only melees have to avoid his tail, but all casters are save and can do mechanic if needed.

This is how I do it

Edit: as BLM I would stand near him, because if I get the ring, I don't have to move much.
