I was a lot happier when they introduced the simplified versions that take up less space and much less visually busy.

I'm still waiting for an option to use the status bar instead. I don't need an annoying greased lightning or chakra gauge on monk. The status bar worked fine for 4 years and I prefer it.
At least AST got their stuff back on the status bar but they still aren't allowed to turn off the useless job gauge. I literally hide the AST gauge behind hotbar icons now.
I feel that among all the old jobs, Bard was the only job that actually gained something meaningful with their gauges. And even then, that was largely due to the complete overhaul the job got more than anything else. And arguably Machinist too.
Every other job just got some visual flair, or had things they used to have locked behind their gauges out of nowhere for reasons (White Mages and Stoneskin/Divine Bension, I'm looking at you).
I don't mind them, but I'm wondering what the cut-off point will be in terms of UI clutter. Being able to resize them is a Godsend.
Monk one is useless.
White Mage needs to lose the lilies job gauge, replacing it with a unique utility.
What little uniqueness the class had, (since the Astro was a cut and paste of the whm base skills), was diluted significantly further in 4.0.
The lilies are shown up as a 'whm gets one too', reflecting the developers mindset the all classes must have a job gauge, no matter how poorly it fits into the skills matrix.
My biggest issue is the lack of consistency in what goes on the bar and what goes in the gauge. BRD's Straighter Shot buff and BLM's procs come to mind. Heck even RDM's Dualcast, so much for a job that was done with the gauge in mind, I miss it on occasion because I keep looking at the gauge thinking it tells me all it should when it doesn't. Some things are job specific but it's good that other people see them like how long is left on a SCH's bubble or PLD's passage of arms. But what do I care about a mnk's stacks if I'm healing, especially if I wanna check for debuffs?
Thing is I feel like they could make some status indicators private without resorting to dumping those statuses on the gauge so it's extra frustrating imo
If you could get rid of the extra fluff around them, and just make them simple Plain Jane meters I'd like them. Otherwise they're too big, even when they're shrunk down all the way.So what are everyone's opinions on the gauges, were they a good addition, helpful for old mechanics, a bit clunky, or just straight up bad.

Some of them work very well as new mechanics for jobs. But others are simply a tracker that just substitute the buffs, not giving any new mechanic. I think it could be really good i they can give the gauge more importance.
Compared to leaving everything on the status bar, or simply all in one easily readable and space-efficient place -- whatever that place may be?
Not well. Not well at all.
