It's an old one but a good one.

So I just got DRK and wanted to try it out. Got Tam-Tara and got paired up with a Thaumaturge, Conjurer and a Pugilist.

I tell them I am new at tanking. Thaumaturge and Conjurer responded saying they would give me advices. They were very helpful and kind.

And in exchange I helped the Thaumaturge with his class.

But the PUG didn't answer. I didn't mind at first but the guy was apparently the son of Leeroy Jenkins. He tried to solo the dungeon without waiting for us, stole aggro from me and did other terrible things, every time he rezzed back at the beginning. No matter how much we told him to stop (he was speaking the same language as us so no reason he didn't understand) he just kept going full LJ.
At one moment he asked for rez. We kicked him and had a good laugh.

So in other words, I made some good friends that day and had a good laugh. I hope these 2 people who gave me advices are having a good time !

PF, but still.
Lakshmi ex farm. Things were mostly going alright, except people were very happily eating up all the refresh Vril on the ground. I always had to start running for the ones furthest from where I was in order to reach them, as people were standing where all the closer ones would spawn, and I still often couldn't get to them in time.
Now, this otherwise wouldn't be such a major issue, I can adjust.
Except I was the main tank.
You may see some potential problems arising from dragging the boss around while the OT cone is going off.

Also we had a summoner with no pet control, so Garuda would kill the transition phase adds too early, but we managed.

Left a Sohm Al pug before the final boss. Everyone overgeared it, but the healer was super anal about everything having to be done the 'right' way. Even started pulling for me. Didn't say anything, just wanted to get through it, but her nearly letting me die because I wasn't following her script was too much. I told her she was annoying and dropped group. Inflexible people are the worst.

I was completely convinced that having ~255/260 tanks in Bardam's Mettle and later was an urban legend.
Aaaand I stand corrected.
Bonus points to the tank for being a DRK and having the "King of Squish" trait to make things even more interesting.
Add to that triple pulls and you have a healer aging a good 10 years within the first 5min.
And our MNK saw fit to complain how he hates the weakness debuff (got one shot in an aoe) and that we wouldn't have these problems if only "his" healer was there. BRDs reaction? "or you could just... you know..dodge stuff?"
Loved her for that. Would've typed something myself but I was too busy punching heals at 300apm because a paper bag would've been tankier than our King of Squish.

Oh man do i have a gem of a story this time.

I decided to queue for amdapor keep hard to get the last of the poetics i needed for my reconditioned anima. Everything was going fine until the second boss, once he went into his invisible/invulnerable phase me and the tank were the only ones standing near/attacking the luminescence orb for the irradiance buff to knock him out of his invis. phase, while the DRG and RDM just stood next to the boss doing nothing.


The RDM calls out the tank for not knowing what to do, I defend him by explaining to the 2 dps that you have to kill the orb and stand in the circle to get the buff to knock him out and they try to explain that you need to lure the orb to the boss then kill it. It then spirals into nothing but name calling when the RDM refers to it as "buff of the noob" and further tries to explain how he's trying to explain to a "noob" that's a mentor on how the fight works.


I'm just completely blown away by people who are trying to explain fights, when they clearly don't understand how they work. The funniest part is that the tank was obviously a returning player and even he knew what to do over the 2 other "experienced" members of the group who clearly knew the fight. Stay classy DF, you never fail to entertain.

Happened to run into these little rays of sunshine today in PF. This exchange followed from me having the nerve to suggest the casters should slot Surecast for the fight (Shinryu ex). I have no words.



Edit: I should add that this happened during the first pull, so I didn't even get a chance to be "a poor excuse for a player".

But remember, Taika. Only us raiders breed toxicity!

If the casters don’t want their Surecast, I’ll take it for my bard! I would LOVE an ability to negate Tidal Wave/V4S’s Vacuum Wave knockbacks. >.> I get so annoyed when I see casters/healers not making use of Surecast, especially when I’m on BRD and I just have to get knocked around by crap.

So I was pugging vs4. We wiped a lot during gco ( allagan explodes on everyone from color deaths or falling off), and sometimes gcd, even though it was a weekly farm. I was in someone else’s pug group. They yelled me to voke, even though I used it during almagest after gcd and was using aggro combos while in defiance (I often have trouble keeping hate in deliverance otherwise). They even blamed me for not covering healer from earth shakers, and I told em im a war not a pld. So I left the pt before I started to lose my temper and started my own vs4 pf. The red mage from that last party ( I know he was a red mage mostly because he was also on my contacts window), decide to send me scathing tells, saying to give up on savage and that no one will ever join my party, and when I didn’t respond, he started to send me death threats should I ever step foot into savage again. So I reported and blacklisted him.

I know you like hard content and it’s one thing to get angry for not clearing such content for the two me being but to threaten someone like that is crossing the line. And I have cleared vs4 recently with a pug that was nicer and more patient.

Farming Void Ark for the healer gear b/c I really like it. I only needed a couple more pieces. I also want Echidna's minion. I go in as AST because I'm wanting to get more comfortable with it so I've been doing a lot of stuff on AST lately.

Co-healer is an AST. Coolios! They cast protect and I wait for them to choose a sect.
And wait.
And wait.
I say "hey, fellow AST, choose a sect?" No reply.
The raid starts so I figure, fine I'll choose Diurnal. Get almost up to the first boss and they finally choose a sect: Diurnal.

Why? Why would you not oppose your fellow healer? (Last run I had a WHM; you guys can Regen but can't shield so I go into Noct; if you're a Scholar, I go Diurnal so you can do shields and I can regen). Ok, fine, we're not in battle so I swap to Noct. I'm pulling cards, Royal Roading when I can, applying buffs and shields when needed. I'm watching what my co-heal does and all I'm seeing them do is cast Malefic and Aspected Helios, as well as spamming Celestial Opposition for some reason before any of the fights had started. They're holding onto cards; I'm not seeing any of them being applied to anyone. I'm not seeing them cast any heals other than the odd Aspected Helios. I'm actually dipping under 50% MP because of this. I should never be dipping that low, not when you have two healers!

So, I'm the one running around like a headless chicken trying to keep everyone healed up, meanwhile the whole alliance spreads out every which way in every fight and while I try to space myself opposite my co-heal, I'm realizing that they're not actually...healing. At one point, 3 people were dead because I couldn't run to them fast enough and co-healer wasn't even attempting to.

Asked co-healer for some help. No reply.
Then, I end up dying while trying to run to our tank (who was closest to the co-heal) because they were taking damage that wasn't being healed (they were under 30% health with lots of boss left to fight). Co-heal actually raises me (shock!)

Absolutely the most stressful "older" (still newish to me!) raid outside of Dun Scaith. I primarily heal in these raids because my queue times are faster than DPS (although I only BLM in Dun Scaith b/c of that first boss).

Walked out with 2 pieces of gear, no minion (rolled an 80, winner rolled 90), and one comm. I usually comm my co-heal. Not this time.
