I once ran void ark as a pld, and one of the other tanks was a war who was in defiance the entire time despite the fact I was tanking every boss. The best part is, I noticed he was in defiance during the first boss, so I kept checking his status bar periodically. Not once, did he have maim up, which means he wasn't using 2/3 of his combos. But, even though he was in tank stance the entire time, he never had aggro on anything which means he wasn't using the other 1/3 of his combos either. Literally, on the trash pulls his groups' mobs were running all over the place. So what was he doing the whole time????

The worse part is many people think this is acceptable too, because they are tanks they HAVE to stay in tank stance. I can keep aggro, do mitigation and STILL do dps as MT just as fine. Some people makes me wonder what they are thinking and I'm sorry you had to go through that man.

Edit: I am aware those were OT but again, people let them do it, which is the sad part.

I've seen so much of all of this.

I will, however, say that World of Darkness at the end of ARR is when I finally learned to tank, proper. Came for the queue, stayed for the learning experience. When the main tank other other OT died to the same easy mechanic that I was able to dodge--on a laptop, no less, that made PS3s feel like like super machines with psychic powers unmatched by any comic book character in comparison--I ended up with the aggro and having to put my game face on.

Sometimes, you just gotta step up to the plate and do your job. <_<

For 24-man, a lot of people run it as a secondary class, because they already have that iLvl or better gear on their mains. I main AST, but I run PLD for the 24-man. So, you may end up with tanks that OT because that class isn't even their own class, and when things go pear-shaped, they're desperately praying the other OT becomes MT so they don't have to.

It's funny, my Rabbie runs usually go like this...

    1) I ask on alliance chat if any tank wants to MT it, and note that if not, I'm more then willing to tank it.
    2) Neither other tank says a word. Yet one of them then charges in without a countdown.
    3) I shrug my shoulders and drop into OT.
    4) The MT has no idea what they're doing and gets slaughtered at some point.
    5) I watch the other OT desperately try an hide so they don't have to MT.
    6) I swap into tank stance and scrape the bigbad off whichever poor non-tank slob had the misfortune of being next in the aggro line.
    7) I end up MTing the rest of the raid.

    Every...single...time. >.>

it's just a general theme: People don't care and don't pay attention.
doesn't matter how clear the AoE mark is how long the AoE reading is, some people will just stood in there and die.

However, same thing applied to these tanking whm or blm...
When I see the boss running toward my rdm, I pop the Lucid Dreaming instantly and enjoy it go after these melees...
(and my whm/ast use Lucid Dreaming all the time...)

Unfortunately experienced this the other day. When I queue Main Scenario on my DRK, I typically go in with just Darkside up, because I've never really experienced a "proper" run of either of those dungeons, just the rushes, and wasn't overly comfortable tanking. The other night we all pop in and the other tank notes "not it", with tank stance on still. I sigh to myself, hope I don't screw it up, pop grit and begin to pull. The other tank kept tank stance on the entire time, occasionally using hate combos based on how close they were in aggro sometimes. I mean, if you don't want to be the main tank, let me actually do it? I'm willing to learn, and am constantly asking my party at the end of dungeons if they would prefer I did anything different, but it's extremely frustrating fighting another tank for aggro. Either you want it, or you don't.

Likewise, on another one, the other tank happily ran main-- Until some random point on Ultimate Weapon. It was like, they pulled, and then a minute later the boss was wandering off and the aggro tables had that tank at 4th or something. I don't know if I missed them dying since I can't see much around the boss' body, or what, but I had to toss on Grit, start my aggro combo, pop an ultimatum, and finish it keep the boss from roaming around squishing people.

As a tank main, it's baffling that someone wouldn't want to tank.
Yeah imagine refusing to keep boss aggro in fights with a tank swap lol.

Its even worse when you are the MT and focusing on the boss, then adds show up and attack the healer and the OT is just dpsing the boss aswell.

I've died so many times for that reason... To the point that if the OT refuses to help I have a policy that they will never get heals from that point onward... >.>

How does a warrior use 2/3 of their combos when WAR only has 2 combos? are they just spamming half a combo?
